Grey screen or dusty screen in dark scenes

Hey guys anyone managed to fix the grey screen or dirty window effect.. basically am not getting blacks at all even with the latest update. Am in the process of Rma for the rift. the issue is i notice it even on normal gameplay its like looking through a dirty window anyone can help out with a fix?

True black wont happen because OLED has issues going from black to any other color fast enough creating a black smear effect. To fix this, they limit how far dark the image can get creating a gray ish fog on full on black screens.

Personally I feel they should give you the option, My DK2 does full black and yes the smear is their sometimes but its not a big annoyance at all, if it bothers people they can add the gamma correction or smear reduction or whatever Oculus wants to call it. For people who might not be bothered by it or maybe they are watching a movie in a dark cinema for example, they can turn "True Black" on.

Well if your right why would accept the RMA they wouldve told me that info. The support told me your suppose to get true black colors. They r talking shit?

You do have an option for true black just like the DK2.  It's called the SPUD tool.

Tried that didnt change the dusty screen

Disabling SPUD got rid of an overly bright dusty screen for me, but introduced decreased color depth - banding. Now I think it looks better using SPUD w/o red tint. The dust is only really visible on pure black screens, but if there are some brighter objects on screen then the blacks to look black, and that is most of the time for me.
