HMD owners do you still play video games on a flatscreen/monitor?

I must admit, that I never went back to play anything on a monitor eversince I got my DK1 in 2013.
playing in VR is such a quantum leap, that for me its not an option anymore. If I cant play it in VR     I prefer not to play it at all.

I'm sorry @danknugz but I had to LOL your post. I had an xbox account hacked several years ago and had to make a new one. You will survive.

I still play a good amount of games on the regular monitor... I tried playing some games in "desktop" mode but the resolution is just simply not there to play "regular" games in VR... can't read text well, input lag is intolerable for anything competitive and not seeing the keyboard stinks...

plus drinking in the Rift is nearly impossible so there's also that...

There are games series that I'm still invested in like MGS5, picked that up in the sale since I was putting off playing it for ages since I heard mixed reviews and didn't want to ruin my childhood game 😛 (FYI it's pretty awesome game but haven't finished it yet.)

I also enjoy Civ games but hopefully I can see that coming to VR some time soon!

After I've finished MGS5 I can't see me playing any other monitor games for a long time, most of my gaming time is spent in VR still

It sadden me to say this.  But MGS5 was a let down. great game on its own.  But It just wasn't the Metal Gear we should have got.  This should have been a spin off.  Not the final send off.  It should have been a to the roots MGS story heavy game.  Its a great game but.  Honestly.  I was born in 87.  Literally was playing Metal Gear at age 2.  All my life.  This is a game I hold close to my heart. I have owned the game since its launch...and I have not beaten the game yet.  I'm near the end.  I have given it a large break.  It was getting.....tiring :pensive:

I still game on tvs.  My PC is hooked up to a 55" 4k LG 3d smart.  My ps4 is hooked up for a 43" 1080p tv.  But I also play on the CV1 too.  Love them both

Would love to say that I play in VR only, but there are still a lot of very good games that don't have VR versions. Though, even when I play normal games, I will use my triple monitor setup, or 3D glasses, or other immersive technology on the PC. Maybe one day every game will be in VR but that's probably some ways off.

I wear glasses so the lack of focus dials has butchered the CV1 comfort for me (first time I used a Gear VR I spent hours in it and still didn't want to remove it, the first time I used a CV1 within a few minutes I didn't want to put it back on), meaning only short game sessions and minimum TV usage.

Then there's the problem that my favorite games are mouse based and using a gamepad is a huge step backward.

The CV1 is not the VR headset I wanted, and even DK2 users are calling the CV1 a sidestep for them, but it has taught me what I want from a VR headset, if only my next one : In my case it's not higher resolution and less SDE, but focus dials and default 1:1 input controls.
