You don't know the reason Oculus has exlusives, but i'm sure i can't change your mind. I will say though, i disagree with your assesment.

Yes I do know the reason, and I think its a stupid one. They invested money into those developers to design games for their HMD, So they feel like the games belong on the Rift. Well guess what, they are losing money from lack of potential sales by being d-bags. Like you and everyone else, I keep up with VR news on the daily.

Even without their other woes this giant dick-move would have set them back because they think they can pull an apple meets xbox/MS stunt and get away with it? They must have mis-judged the general sheepiness and IQ levels of all VR fans by only sampling the obviously low levels of their most shouty, whiny ardent fanboys on this forum (and reddit)

I couldn't care less about their own funded exclusives, they frankly look terrible for VR (cartoon fox game, fixed cam head swivel game etc... ) Does anyone really believe that's a good use of "VR"?

I am pretty happy with my Rift pre order, i have followed the developement since the beginning and my IQ is above average so IQ shouldn't be the problem here. Are you really saying that people who prefer the Rift are stupid?

I already said "what I'm saying" if you wish to twist that to make yet another snappy rift fanboy soundbite you go ahead mate. 8-)

Also, third person games also work in VR, even though they don't interest you. Virtual reality is not just about walking around and teleporting, playing other types of games may also appeal to some people. Yes, games like Lucky's tale and Chronos are good use of VR.

Did I say they don't work? please quote me on that. Did I say they can't appeal to people? Please quote me on that. Did I say they don't even appeal to me? please quote me on that.

What I DID say is that pushing them so heavily at the forefront of the birth of consumer VR is damaging to the perception of VR. Yes third person 'traditional' games in VR can be fun, sure, but they are not "virtual reality" not even for a second, anyone who claims that is VR is in the wrong hobby/business. IT's tacked on VR, the stuff that nay-sayers said VR would be, that will play into their hands.

The only reason you are going easy on this stuff is because it's Rift's prime games right now. Don't lie to me or yourself that you believe watching a cartoon fox in essentially an enhanced version of 3DTV and esp stuff like Chronos where you are JUST a game cam stuck lamely at the side is what you thought VR is when you first got interested in the Rift.

I've supported oculus just as long as you have, and I've had past HMDs even before oculus came out (shit ones from the mid 2000s) the rift is way better, and deserves better software to be the showcase for it. Due to only having a gamepad bundled, sadly, this is the third rate crap they have to present to the world as "Virtual Reality". Every single person on this forum knows deep down that Lucky's tale is not an emulated 'reality' of anything (not even an emulated fantasy). It's a 3d platformer with 3D vision with some head control tacked on. even laymen in the poll comments above (casuals and non tech heads) know that's true so I can't believe for a second that seasoned VR fans on this forum can't see it.

Now mr Creepy I'm aware you are one of the biggest badge wearers for oculus around here so consider this my last reply to you before you start trying the old insults and word gymnastics.

You are free to enjoy games like this and I'm free to offer my opinion on it not being actual VR. It's misuing the tech for its own, underwhelming, ends. If you want to see more of that and less actual VR then by all means support it with your hard earned money.

You don't know the reason Oculus has exlusives, but i'm sure i can't change your mind. I will say though, i disagree with your assesment.

Exclusives are bad for *PC* VR no matter HOW you dice it, but it's not so much the funded stuff like cartoon fox game, it's things like Adrift that was very much set to launch on Vive the same day, right up till a few weeks back when Facebook reached into its large pockets, realizing the rift itself wasn't compelling enough to speak for itself against the overwhelming early feedback for Vive, and BOUGHT those devs, a paid timed exclusive. Basically blackmailing the more stupid gamer into another reason to chose rift over vive (because the system itself couldn't do the talking like Vive can). How on earth can you agree with that shitty practice?

Have said before, none of you will ever see how bad this is, and how bad Facebook are for VR until you finally shed yourself of this stupid 'brand loyalty' and emotional connection you've weirdly built up by following Palmer and the guys for 3+ years, I followed them too but I know when to call it a day and invest in something that's better for VR for everyone and not just for Facebook.

However, enjoy whatever you chose, because it'll all be irrelevant by gen 2 and then either Oculus will have shaped up and joined the good side of VR or been driven out due to their intolerable practices.

I will say it again, why are you blaming Oculus because Valve won't implement a competing store on there headset?

You have this completely switched around, which is surprising considering how many times I saw you post the same "You can play more games with the Rift because Steam supports it..." message in about every Vive thread on this site.

It is up to the software to support the hardware in EVERY case. The fact remains that Steam software is supporting both HMD's hardware.

Considering I am getting both, it is pretty hilarious to watch all the misinformation and freaking out going on.

PassiveVR:I don't have a problem with them including those experiences heavily in their marketing, they also have "Real VR" though no room scale at launch. You also keep insulting people who don't agree with you, why is that? I think my quotes i already included before. Why nitpick at the way i word things, when i say these 3rd person games "work" i mean that they are not as bad as you claim they are for VR. No, they are not what got me into VR, but i look forward to trying a few of them.

Funny you say that, i actually haven't insulted you, except if you take the one time i said i thought you were a troll as an insult. If i have made any insulting comments to you, please feel free to quote them. I like both the Vive and Rift and i only conter the claims made against the Rift cause there is what seems like a defamation wave against now. I have looked objectively at both headsets, and think both are great.

Of course Valve want Rift users, more money. Great for Rift users more games.

It has been stated that Valve are free to add Oculus store support to the Vive, they haven't taken this offer.

Can I add Steam hasn't support the Rift, Oculus have added OpenVR support to the SDK so it will work.

Its the fact that people are blaming Oculus for valve not adding support to another store which they are free to do (Oculus want more people on the Oculus store of course).

As for Oculus exclusives only being on the Oculus store, Valve are clearly just as bad I can't buy Portal on Origin or Uplay can I?

Explain to me how the Vive hardware would 'add support' to the Oculus Home software? Sorry man, that isn't how it works. Either Oculus home supports the Vive SDK or it doesn't. The hardware is set in stone and it is up to the software to add support. Sorry if you are new to this sort of thing, but this is really basic programming here.

SteamVR has in fact supported most every Oculus runtime and allowed the games in Steam to support as many branches of code as they want, so the games in Steam can support every runtime at the same time. Saying it was just OpenVR support is just an outright lie. A little bit of research would show you SteamVR has been doing work to support Oculus SDK's the entire time they have matured. They even allow for multiple branches of code for each game, so each developer could support EVERY RUNTIME AT ONCE!

And acting like it is Steam's fault for the titles is ridiculous. The developers choose where their games are sold. You can't play some games on UPlay because they weren't made by Ubisoft

Hmm, interesting. Doesn't look quite as durable as the Rift packaging, but should be small enough to not cost an arm and a leg to ship.

It's not the VR version, the dev has said in interviews that the regular 2D version would be on Steam and the VR version on Oculus Home
