HTC Vive Lighthouse Mounting

Sorry for the Vive thread in the Oculus forum, but I am led to believe this is for general VR chat? Also, there seems to be a few with Vives here and some very helpful people too.

Where do you think would be the best place to place the lighthouses to cover my whole play area? My real concern is ensuring I am fully tracked while having a seated experience at my PC desk due to the Vive not having sensors on the back.

Here are some picture of my play area:

I'm thinking:

First corner above my PC, to the left:

And the counting from this corner counter clockwise, the 3rd corner above the door.

I just put mine on the floor. Works wonders. Not consistently great..does fidget if i get too close and block their line of sight entirely..but for the majority..no mounting..no holes needed...no tripods that i can trip and shatter the lighthouses with (people haven't read Reddit here!).

Do you think having them on the floor pointed up slightly would work in the same way as high up and pointed down? Interesting.

Having them on the floor works, but you take the chance of occluding the HMD with your hands/arms.
Not a Rift fanboi. Not a Vive fanboi. I'm a VR fanboi. Get it straight.

Same way? Sure... I mean there's people I have met that do the tripod mounting..that do wall mounting at the PROPER footage too and are having issues with controllers drifting...the headset sometimes juddering too..but never usually their room bounds changing ...

Only issue with my setup is obviously when you get close to the lighthouse...it'll go crazy...maybe the tracking isn't PERFECT on the VERY edges of your room....depending how big it is . Also if I move the lighthouses....the room will obviously have to be setup again. Which takes about 3-4 runs.

Mine is a 2.2x1.9m which is the minimum i believe. And for the most part it's flawless. Yes you could occlude the lighthouses...with your hands...but I haven't noticed that. Usually I stand BETWEEN the lighthouses in the center of the room. just not DIRECTLY infront of one. Otherwise if I'm too close the beam doesn't shoot right.
