Just wanted to know if anyone has had the opportunity to use both the Gear VR and DK2 and can they confirm if there is much of a difference between the 2 i.e. What percentage would you say one is better than the other as i am trying to justify the purchase of Rift.
Rift DK2 is better because of the positional tracking and software being run from a powerful PC. GearVR is has slightly higher resolution but lower FOV (if using S6 as opposed to Note 5). Gear VR is very good for watching movies while laying down in bed, by using Oculus Cinema with its airplane mode in the Void theater.
I used the DK2 for 6 months as soon as it was available and have had a Gear VR as soon as it was available for the S6.
In my opinion the Gear VR is better - comfier, fantastic that it has no cables. I think the image is better and (for the most part) everything is polished and "just works".
