Watching the apple VR release drew me to this sub. I have never even tried an vr headset. After reading lots of posts on this sub, I ordered an odyssey. Should be here in a few days. Why an odyssey? It has a wired connection to my pc and it has oled. At the price I paid, if I don’t like it, it’s no big deal. If I really like it, I can get something better.
I have a 3070ti. Hopefully that’s enough to get me started. I will upgrade if I end up liking it or if I buy the upcoming Samsung hmd.
Are there 3D videos or movies I can watch somewhere after I get it? What’s the first thing I should do with it? What do you typically show someone who has never tried vr?
What’s the next pc vr hmd that’s coming out? I want it to be wired.
The Odyssey is a WMR (Windows Mixed Reality) headset. Microsoft are discontinuing WMR, they've said in 2026 they are stopping downloads of the software needed to run all WMR headsets (Odyssey, HP Reverb G2, etc).
Samsung's followup to the Odyssey hasn't been released that one is focused on XR and doesn't have a name yet. It likely won't be using Windows Mixed Reality because that was discontinued and will be built on a VR optimised version of Android instead.
