Headed to Best buy! maybe.......

I posted last month about getting a Rift. I had a DK2, and sold it about the time CV-1 preorders happened. I  then cancelled the preorder in protest due to shipments going to retailers instead of us day 1 guys. I recently had a change of heart now that the touch controllers are easily bought, but I was still a little reluctant due to having no interest in gaming, and I wasn't sure if there was enough "experience content" to alone justify the purchase. Many here assured me there was enough non gaming content to consider it.

I had decided to think it over for a while, and decide if I should just wait it out for Gen 2, and then wham o blammo, here comes the huge price cut! Now it's very hard to resist!   So what do you guys think now?  Would you still buy a Rift if you weren't a gamer, but was a VR  fan?   What about this new LG HMD I here about?  Is it worth waiting for, or should I buy the rift now and skip the LG for a Gen 2 rift / vive?  Will the Gen2 stuff have better specs than this new LG?

If you wait for gen2 Anything youll be waiting at least 2 more years. Most content is gaming based but there are fun experiences like the new space station experience. Btw your protest registered a big fat zero with oculus they had too many sales to be bothered about anyone having a little tizzy over supplies to retailers-remember these supplies were part of a deal mapped out probably as part of the "Big Plan".

Now's a great time to get Rift and Touch (and I'm not just saying that cause I work here, it's great).

A 2nd Generation Rift hasn't been revealed yet, which means we are likely at least 2 years away. There is typically a 1 year gap in new electronics between their reveal date at a conference and their release date on the market.

The longer you wait the farther you will fall behind the VR curve! Unless you are like some people that think you are wasting money if you buy something that eventually gets replaced (yeah, I'm looking at you Mr. Percy!). In that case, you should wait until 3rd Gen 😛

OK,  I guess I'm headed to the store then.......   Perhaps when I get back, you guys can recommend some good experiences, The more realism the better. (Yes I know it will take beyond 4K for true photorealism). I really liked the demo where you were at a desk, and a robot with a TV head guided you through history! I loved the flood in the demo when the water was rising up around you, and the floating particles at the beginning of time. Cool stuff! I also like the miniature roller coaster in the living room were you went flying over a coffee table, and under the couch.  I sure hope I can find that type of stuff or better.

I received free shipping and no tax when I purchased the Touch controllers from Oculus??? or was the free shipping having something to do with getting free shipping on the rift for shipping late that one time?

All accessories have free shipping, and taxes are all included in the price.

Absolutely I would still buy a Rift, even if I wasn't a gamer. I don't really associate being a 'gamer' with VR though. The games I tend to play the most of aren't on VR.
As far as the LG headset, it's basically a higher resolution Vive with some PSVR features. If you were on the market for a Vive, then the LG HMD would totally be the way to go, or at least wait for the updated Vive components (HMD, motion controls, lighthouse.....well ya everything)

Rift+Touch at current price is a no-brainer ... sure it most likely will be even cheaper at christmas but by hell man, we all could have popped our clogs and be pushing up daisies by then  - Act Now !  😮

Got it!  Loading software now, and getting excited. I've never demoed the CV-1 but had a DK-2.
