So i know this has been said. But I attempted to demo this for a co worker today and more or less it wasnt the best experience. he is wowed by the potential but i had to explain how last update messed up the height. He is shorter than me and started able to reach the ground. By the end of First contact he was looking about 7 ft tall (height is set at 5'11 which is my height, imperial)
Yeah, it's been said but not answered. I think that's why people keep asking. Why don't Oculus just post on their site they are aware of a problem instead of leaving people to think it's their computers? Arock387 - I would suggest you contact support because the more people that do this the more they'll realise there's a problem. I'm sure they know there's a problem by now though.
Yeah, it's been a week and nothing. No update and no options to roll back. At least the height reset isn't that much trouble. But for those of us with height issues and shifting Guardian, having to re-calibrate and redo Guardian everyday is a pain.
Support act like it's a configuration issue on our end, so that's kinda pointless.
I just dont want it to leave bad tastes for people. I have a lot of people excited to come try it out but now I'm kind of weary about showing people since the experience is..well, kind of broken.
I got rid of it by going to devices, configure rift, reset sensors, then it goes looking for the sensors like it did the first time in setup (I kept getting sensor errors after the update), then unplugging and replugging both sensors while it's searching for them, then redoing the sensor calibration where you are in the dark room with mist and you see the sensors blue light thingy scanning, then height issue was fixed for me
I also have height bug, and I just dont want to deal with that all the time. My favorite game is luckily on steam where I can use the openVR advanced settings floor fix. I thought about trying the quest mode for RecRoom the yesterday, but then I got in Oculus Home and remembered the height was still messed up for OH. I didn't want to run the setup just to try out that mode for 10 minutes.
Yet another day goes by without a fix or even an acknowledgement that they fucked it up.
We aint beta testers and we are being treated like we are. If a console was released with this kind of flaw then people would be in uproar.
Dont get me wrong, I love my rift. I love VR. But I'm on the verge of demanding a refund as we have been sold something that is simply not fit for purpose. It infuriates me that in its current state i cant even play a simple sit down game. If it was to do with my setup or I was the only person experiencing it, then I would chalk it up to bad luck. But its a widely reported error. The comunity has proved without a doubt what the cause was (the lastest patch). Oculus are refusing to fix it or even acknowledge it. In my support ticket wgich has been open 6 days now, i have been referred tot he standard setup documents. How fucking patronising!
The only think stopping me from doing this right now is the vain hope of a fix in the works for the immediate future.
THIS SITUATION IS A DISGRACE
