How to improve oculus sales

aminemo

Hello oculus guys,

I feels Oculus sales are kind of frozen by "saisonal best buy stuffs", and
I would like to propose some of my ideas trying to save you and escape from Zenimax running behind you and trying to eat you alive.
First of all stop immediately to sell separately the headset ,the touch controllers and the detectors....I think it the main reason for bad sales.
Secondly try to propose the the whole package below 300 dollars with a
monthly plan at 25 dollars per month for 1 year contract and a free unlimited access to the oculus online store.
A second option would be to get the whole package at 600 bucks without plan.
The third is to sell the package with the best graphic card for 800bucks.
This is the plans guys ....Let me know what you think.

The bit I found funny was the free unlimited access to the oculus online store. I mean it would be really cool and all if the Dev teams did their work for nothing and just give use their games, but how are they going to pay their mortgage and feed their kids?

Well, we actually do have free unlimited access to the store. Not  to the games, mind you, but I can spend all day browsing the store. It doesn't cost me a cent, and nobody comes around and tells me to move along because they're closing up soon.

DK2, CV1, Go, Quest, Quest 2, Quest 3.

A refund system like Steam would be great, people will be not afraid to buy something that maybe later can be regret. Also a demos section will be helpfull.

The problem with that is that some experiences are over quite quickly, which means you may have nearly completed some of the games when you ask for a refund. Just do your research on Youtube, you'll normally find someone has reviewed the game.

I know what you are saying there, but sorry I dont trust youtube anymore for reviews. A demo should be the answer.

How long do you reckon the demo should run for because you would have to complete that part of the game again at some point which would be a bit boring. If I'm buying a book I don't just read a few pages in a Book shop. The first chapter might be pants but the book might turn out to be brilliant by the end of it.

I think the best way is to just show anyone who turns up at your house ie: gas man, window cleaner, electric meter reader man, your local DIY repair man, plumber etc. 🙂

The Majority of the Steam library ISN'T VR though. When your whole library is VR I think it changes the metrics. I guarantee it's something that gets highly abused on Steam, but somehow it works out for them overall. Job simulator is a great example of a game I'd love to play around in for an hour or two is all. So I could buy the game. Get it out of my system and ask for a refund. There is another side to that coin.

This is going to take time to move along.  Price cuts are hard on businesses short term, but really help if they have enough money to keep them going (they have Facebook, so they are good).  I get my Rift tomorrow, but I have used a Vive and fell in love with VR.  The price drop really was the final check box for me as I just picked up a 480 for my gaming pc anyway.  VR is young, but has a lot of major companies pushing it.  This year, and probably next year, will determine if VR is going to evolve into mainstream or just be a niche market still.  With Google pushing hard with their simple phone vr and remote control, I think the overall VR ecosystem is here.  In the end, however, the devs will determine if it can stay, not the hardware or the pc parts market.  They may determine some aspects of if someone can get it(upgrades and such), but without games that keep it fresh and fun it'll still die off no matter how pretty it looks.  Just look at the Wii U.  I have one and it's great.  It's an awesome concept, but poor adoption because of poor dev support.   Support the devs so they will support us!

As for my part, I'm already planning several family get together's with my friends from work and other nonwork friends.  I'm going to take a night for each WHOLE family to come over and experience it, kids and all.  That is what sold me, and I hope to get some of them on it.  One guy I work with is already chomping at the bit to buy it just based on me telling him about my time with the Vive.  A friend I used to game with, but moved across the country, was visiting his parents at Christmas and brought his Vive with him.  He invited me over to play it, and it was so much fun to me I rushed home and grabbed up my 9 and 10 yr old and brought them over to try it.  They are stoked about the rift coming tomorrow, as am I.  🙂  I hope the Rift is as captivating as the Vive was!

I think a refund system should be in place for games over a certain amount.  A 5 or 10 dollar game may not captivate someone for as long as a AAA title might, but to drop 40-60 on a game that you may find you don't care for will leave a bad taste in your mouth.  A game that high should have a higher replay value, and also have a lot of game left even after a 10 min demo or refund period.

There should also be some level of understanding being given to people as they figure out what kinds of games they prefer on VR.  it's a different experience, and they may not like some styles as much on VR as they do on PC.

What the ecosystem needs is a few more free sample games like they already have showcasing the system by companies that can afford a loss in the way of advertisement.  I remember my original PS came with a game demo disc, and years later I would still pop it in and play something on it just for something to do.  lol
