I will never buy a $600 Rift. Will my DK2 still work?

I dont care how good CV1 is, or CV2, or whatever comes out later, I cant afford to spend $600 on a video game thing. I didnt buy the PS3 when it was $600, I didnt buy an Xbox One, Im not going to nor will I ever buy a Rift for $600.

I do have a DK2, it was a price I could do, what are the chances that games for CV1 will be backwards compatible with DK2?

Have you thought about selling your DK2?

Do you have a PC that met the specs to handle the CV1?

Yes, if you are implying that if I can afford a gaming PC then I can afford a $600 gaming accessory then you are wrong. The GTX970 was paid for by work, and I upgraded to the fastest i5 awhile ago for really cheap on craigslist. When I upgrade video cards I only buy them when they get to around $200, processors last for years and dont need much upgrading or serious power to run games well.

Given the work hours I have to put in for hardware upgrades, and had to put in to upgrade for the DK2, I also resent the implication that I'm in a position to spend "x" just because I spent "y", with no appreciation of how much work "y" represents. If that's Oculus' approach it's not in touch with mainstream consumer reality. Others will capitalize...

I would like to know this too, 700€+ price for small upgrade from dk2 is too much for me.

At some point, the development kits will cease to be supported by the SDK and runtime. Palmer mentioned in his AMA that Oculus would be announcing plans for the DK units in the coming weeks, but don't expect any long term support.

CV1

I don't think that's the point of his post.. I think he's trying to bargain.

I could afford to buy CV1 but I refuse to pay double what I paid for DK2. All the people that pre-orders that's their choice. But if Oculus say as of CV1 and SDK1.0 the DK2 becomes a brick then I will be pissed.

The £529 UK price point is one thing. To render my DK2 useless is another.

Totally agree with you here. There was no mention of DK2 turing to stone when I purchased it. The DK2 should run alongside CV1 for those that aren't bothered about resolution and who supported Oculus. I swear if they don't do this then they should offer up a small price for a return if they want to make DK2 obsolete.
