If Jumping is bad, is fighting also bad for players of the oculus rift?

I asked about jumping. people told me it's not a good idea cause can induce sickness. So how about fighting? beat em up games were you fight people. I've seen people starting to create those types of games sucessfully but are they good to play? any health risks? in my fighting game that i'm making,  the opoonents would do all kinds of moves, i would just punch , hook, uppercut and hand hits like that(With FPS arms)

I can't wait to box some pixel mans lugs in, but the health risk to me is that I have a small room and I can see myself bouncing of a few walls.

How does jumping induce sickness? Are you talking physically (like room scale), or virtually (like pressing a button and you jump in VR while seated/standing?)

VR sickness is also a weird thing, some poeple get over it by time, others dont, and some poeple get trigger by different motions. if you are making a game get playtesters and puke buckets, see what works and what doesnt by thier feedback

You should be able to jump just fine, the tracking is good enough for that, so why would that make you sick? The only problem would be if your headset shifts around a little while doing it. Now whether Oculus Touch it will track my super fast punches in fighting games, i don't know, but i hope.

Thank you. well i don't know but someone told me something in one of my first posts about jumping is a no no. that's why they didn't include jumping function in the Oculus Utilities OVRCharacter controller.  And Mr Creepy thanks for your answer. I was talking about punches using the XBOX controller. not touch

Ok, i misunderstood. That is a bit more complex issue.

Lets hope in the CV2, they include some sort of force feedback.

Can you imagine in a fighting game, you get punched and to some degree you actually 'feel' it at different points in the headset.

We could all meet up in a social Network App, called 'VR Fight Club'.

... I cant talk much more about it however 😞

I think jumping is less of an issue than tilting and turning I think.  The main issues I've seen with VR sickness is when what you see in the headset is different than what your body is feeling in the real world.  So when I play Quake in VR and I use the right stick to look to the right but turn my head to the left..... that will make me feel 'not quite right'.  When I run in one direction in Lucky's Tale but slide my chair in a different direction... I felt sick for 2 hours.  The sickness seems to come from the disconnect between what you see and what you feel.  If you are jumping straight ahead up and down in VR... that might be ok.  If you start rotating or tilting while jumping... I bet a bunch of people would get sick.  Like other people said though... it's different for everybody.

As far as fighting goes... it might work, but they may need to be careful.  When I play the cart races in Project Cars... I feel a little odd sometimes because those cars are very jerky and rough and the camera shakes around a lot (other cars I'm fine with).  If the camera was shaking around a lot while you are fighting or being hit, that might bother some people.

Whatever they do, developers are going to have to do A LOT of play testing with a wide range of people for VR games.  I am sure a game will come out within the next year which will just make some people projectile vomit for whatever reason.  It's just a matter of time.
