Interesting Trend

I know Google Trends is not the be-all end-all, but I thought it was interesting that the U.S. ties for 9th in the regions searching for anything related to the Oculus Rift platform. Scandinavia leads the charge.

Although data is not yet complete for June, there is already more interest than at any time since the Facebook buyout.

It is almost worth noting that neither HTC Vive nor Sony Morpheus register so much as a blip comparatively. That's not an apples-to-apples comparison, though. Google Trends has compiled the Oculus search terms into a "Oculus Rift - Video Game Platform" topic, while they have yet to do so for the other platforms.

Still, if you want to see the chart for a laugh, here it is.

Google itself made it to the dictionary as verb "looking for something in the internet"

Oculus sounds almost like this. "VR-glasses"
the first on the market, biggest popularity and most sold (dev-kits)

I don't think cardboard-glasses or smartphone-gadgets are honorable mentions.
Sonys Morpheus as Playstation-only throws itself in the "smaller-target-group-bucket"

Last but not least
Vive is not common enough
Even I don't know all of its features and functions

Did I miss some products?

Scandinavia has had some major successes recently - Minecraft, Angry Birds and Candy Crush... Glad to see the interest in Oculus, I'm sure it will lead to entertaining content.

Winters are cold and long there, perfect time to write code in a heated room 😉
