Is there a way to play PC VR that doesn't break all the time?

My quest would get stuck on the loading screen 3 dots. I fixed it one time and then it stopped working the next day. I ended all of the oculus tasks on my computer then reloaded it. I'm using my HP pavilion 15 with a decent cable. It's worked before but idk why it always gets stuck on that screen.

The current firmware has broken cabled link for (almost) everyone. If you don't have the option of Airlink, all you can do is wait for a fix to be released. You'd have thought one would have been out by now but Meta.

Personally, I've disabled auto-updates on my headsets. I only allow them to update when a firmware comes out that has features I need (rather than random UI changes and useless, scary legs) and hasn't generated lots of identical "x doesn't work" reports.

Apparently having developer mode enabled fixes the Link issues, which would be why mine have had no problems.

Maybe all of the Meta testers have developer mode on too. It does kind of indicate a lack of sufficient testing though. I'd like to think lessons are being learnt but if the issue is related to lack of recourses put into testing... or an over-reliance on beta tester reporting from the likes of you and me, that may need more scrutiny. I'm guessing most beta testers have dev mode enabled for example.

But yeah, I don't have the issue either but I'm still on v56.

I'm hearing reports an update is out that fixes Link, as I haven't had the problem, can anyone else confirm?

I'm having the same issue as the OP, but I can't get either the Link Cable or Air Link to work, and I've tired everything I can find online and nothing works. The Oculus app and headset claim that my headset is paired, but I just get the never-ending "three dots of doom." I have had both of these working in the past, but I've been using Virtual Desktop exclusively for ages because I just felt it was better. Unfortunately there are a few VR apps that I want to try but they appear to have issues with Steam VR and controller buttons not working (one of them being a Cyberpunk VR mod!), so I figured I'd give Quest Link a go, but it just doesn't work....Way to go, Meta! Your headset is 3 year old now and your software is still trash! 😠

if you're not adverse to using it wireless I'd certainly recommend buying Virtual desktop. Its made by an enthusiast whos very active in the community and he updates the client constantly. Works very well for me and you get the added benefit of not using a cable 😎
