Is this really necessary ?

Started up Oculus home and just happened to have my task manager open and I see this running, Oculus Home 2 with an Unreal icon.
Using 16.5 % cpu, actually went up to 19% at one point.
The file is located in the C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-worlds\Home2\Binaries\Win64 and is named, Home2-Win64-Shipping.exe
I have auto updates disabled and all Notification Preferences disabled as well.
Really not happy that this is running.
Just noticed it's been around for ages, should have searched first but was to pissed off to look.

Home 2 on my PC only uses the GPU to any extent when it is open in the headset, when the headset is removed and Home 2 left running I get this:

Close off the Oculus app and it goes away cleanly.

Curious - was your HMD off at the time?

I do not have Oculus home showing but Oculus client & many other oculus services but my entire cpu usage is 3-4% at idle. It only goes up when i use it.

Saw something like in another thread and someone said reinstalling their graphics card driver fixed the cpu usage..

been an annoyance for me for ages... I had found a hack that made oculus home just a grey view (with menu still there) and this then dropped my cpu usage... recently an update has restored the original so I need to go find the hack and apply that again.

Yeah it was off at the time, but what the hell is it doing, and why the unreal icon. Our pcs have enough stuff to compute without this crap. I get random stutters and slow downs whilst gaming, it's probably this crap kicking in spying on us.
Be nice to hear from a dev.

Have you tried posting in the support section?
