It's not gaming, it's something new

We are in a new era, VR has a new name. It's not called gaming, it's called a simulation.
We are on a journey where the mind can stretch only as far as imaginations can go.
Virtual reality is not gaming, it's a simulation.

it's taking a while before the world actually bites into the VR world

first, they have to make the pixel grid removed as well as make it efficient so a super expensive PC can render VR..

even though people buy new Cell phones @ $600-$1k per year, every year

having everything VR would be great

having too much VR might be bad.. cause economic problems that would need to be addressed globally

still, would make the world a better place than it is now

anyone affected negatively would be collateral damage towards progress

movie theaters still have good revenue

people still watch TV

decades before VR gets main stream..

unless they can make the display and platform perfect.. then facebook releases and the whole world knows about Oculus VR Facebook in 1 day

complete with instructions and classrooms, professors, ready to teach the future VR creator/developers day 2 of global release

would take only a few years to fully mainstream then movie theaters will look like Kodak and TVs will look like the early Palm OS handheld

When it comes to the true potential of VR, VR gaming, in my opinion, is a low hanging fruit. Don't get me wrong. Being a long time gamer, I'm not dissing game development. I think games are a crucial step toward the final goals of VR, and they will always be a part of VR, but VR can be SO much more than a gaming platform.
Not a Rift fanboi. Not a Vive fanboi. I'm a VR fanboi. Get it straight.

Agreed. There was a time when people couldn't think of a reason why they should have a computer at home. Now you carry one around with you everywhere you go. VR will likely follow a similar pattern and invade places only a handfull thought possible/beneficial.
People tend to believe what they want to be true.

Outside of gaming, in everyday use, I find that VR is helping me design a room in my house. Let's me see the finished project before I start spending money.

Before anyone asks, no, it will not be released to the public.

How is VR going to be the economic downfall of the planet Earth? Im being totally serious with this question by the way.
But Oh, how bitter a thing it is to look into happiness through another man's eyes.

How about a small circle of well behaved individuals? 😉

Assuming that VR will take off hard, some people think that half of humanity will end up like this:

Now I personally don't see this as the downfall of planet earth but rather one of the most promising solutions to over population and our extensive CO2 emissions. The economy will suffer a hard hit though when a sizable portion of economically viable individuals leave reality and that's what was apparently titled "the downfall of planet earth."

To put it simply, no, for a couple reasons; primarily: it's nothing, well, interesting, being that it's not a huge archviz project or anything. Second, well.. there might be one or two people I would share it with, with none of them on the OVR forums. Even then, it would be to give them the CAD plans for the project and give them a vision of what I want the room to look like, and that's if I decide to not to do it myself.
