Just Purchased at Best Buy - not rubbing it in. worth checking your local store

Hello all,

I was a pre-order, but I didn't preorder until very late in the process. I had a shipping date estimate of late July.

I
went into our local best buy to demo one of their units, and they said
they just received more stock. The employee was very reluctant to give
info about number of stock etc, but after some pressure - he told me
that they had sold a few of these a week since the May initial
distribution.

So, I had no plans of getting my rift today, but I
lucked out by asking if they had stock. They shouldn't have had stock,
but they have been selling and receiving new units to sell at this
location ever since the first batch they received.

I thought
this might be helpful to people who thought it was impossible to get one
at retailers if they missed out on the first batch. If you live in a
city that has a Best Buy demo station, I encourage you to visit them in
person and ask them about their stock or when they get orders etc. It
absolutely is not a case of "only one batch per store sent one time".
They have been receiving and selling out of rifts ever since the first
batch arrived.

I am beyond thrilled with the unit so far - and I
just wanted to share the info. Had I not randomly went to do the demo
today, I would be at home feverishly checking my order status.

I was able to order one by setting up nowinstock.com to send me an alert when it was in stock.  Was able to get one ordered the same day!

I got lucky and just ordered one at bestbuy.com and now its unavailable again. I've been checking there multiple times a day. Hopefully i don't get a "sorry, out of stock" email from them.

i got mine from ebay for 100 bucks more then the list price so overall not terribly bad considering i figured what the hell.

NOW i just need a new graphics card lol.  Oculus is not kidding when they say you need 90 fps i thought it was an over statement. but unless you have that smooth framreate it will just feel off.

if you cant find it at your local store and can manage to get one for like 700 bucks i woudnt say that would be terrible. Heck i paid way more then what the orginal dk1 was worth because i got tired of waiting LOL.

i think vr is one of those things that its ok to pay a little more for right now.......because theres just nothing else like it. 🙂

Not to rub it in, but I got lucky too. Went to my local Best Buy, and they just happened to have one in stock. Guess what, now is mine suckers!  😮
