Just got my Rift (a week or so ago)

Got my rift. Setup was a breeze.
Ordered direct from this website. Everything came neat in three
packed boxes, no defects.

Booted my first three or four
games, installed easy, ran first time. Built my machine to handle 2K
resolution at 60fps. It handles Robo Recall with a Pixel Density of
2.0 maxed out without stuttering.

I love the damned thing.
Touch controllers are awesome. Spent a few minutes just rotating the
weapons in Robo Recall around in my hand. Rock climbing friend came over and gushed about The Climb. Everything here is really top
notch! Spared no expense.

But then came the evil stuff:

IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad
promises VR support. It's one of the reasons I bought a Rift.
Unfortunately it looks as if they are phasing out support for VR in
Direct X 9, which IL-2 uses, opting instead to go full steam on
Direct X 11. IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad drops VR support.

Bethesda
is evil and speaks with a forked tongue and uses the Morningstar,
Zenimax, whose name we should not utter again.

Games that could have
jumped on board like Doom and Resident Evil 7 would have changed a
lot about VR games. But game companies don't share like they used to,
apparently. I think that dream ended when Geforce acquired 3DFX and
snuffed them out.

Finally. I bought this for flightsims and
before I get Prepar3d to run with Fly Inside I wanted to check out
DCS World but I can't find a VR launcher or instructions to do that.
I would rather not run it through Steam VR.

Overall I'm an
extremely conflicted, enraged, and a totally satisfied customer.

[It's mostly that John Carmack thing with me. I grew up with Id. Even when he tried doing the Space X thing years before Space X existed I was with him. Most people called his obsession to build rockets a "crazy idea and waste of money". I say, if it hadn't been for those people, he would have been in Musk's shoes.]

And for a bit of info, here are my PC's Specs.

Silencer MK3 Power Supply
UDH5 Z77 Gigabyte Mobo
2x8 Gig G.Skill Sniper 2600 Ram
Watercooled Intel 3770K @ 4.0
2 WD Black Edition 2 TB 7200RPM Drives
EVGA Geforce 1070 w/fire resistant firmware (Not recommended as it still catches fire on extreme benchmarks. The Vram came with no heat sink adhesive, and because the fans crank so much harder after the firmware upgrade, EVGA cards have become the loudest card of the series)
Anker 10 port powered usb hub (Much better solution than installing an extra usb 3 card)

Download the dcs world standalone. Go into settings, tick Oculus rift and voila 😉
A PC with lots of gadgets inside and a thing to see in 3D that you put on your head.

Thanks man. Honestly I do great with technology, but I've been reading non stop for a few weeks now to keep up with what the Rift is all about, and that must have just escaped me.

This forum is great. I do notice Devs come here sometimes, and everyone is generally really helpful. [soapbox]If anyone is listening, Mechwarrior Online is what it is, but Mechwarrior 5 was just announced, and I swear to Satan if that doesn't have VR support I'm going to drink an entire bottle of holy water, and he'll just have to inhabit some other rando on the internet. Just did some digging on Reddit and found this to be an old news story. VR support will be added to IL-2 once Battle of Kuban is released. Yaay.

Actually Dx11 was implemented a while back, and VR support should be here by the end of the month. It is going through beta tests now, and according to the latest dev diary one of the testers says it is really, really good. Or as he put it; "HANDS DOWN the BEST VR implementation when it comes to frame rate, FOV, Scale, and just straight up immersion."

I can't wait to try it.
