Just ordered a Pimax 8KX (Some CES Reviews)

It has been getting good feedback from CES so I ordered the PIMAX 8KX right away so I can report back here to you guys as soon as I get it. Probably around March/April. Luckily by ditching all my backer rewards (I already have basestation and Valve controllers) I got mine for $609 (RRP is $1299). Hopefully I can avoid import taxes.

Long Live VR!

I do not condone Sweviver's tweet in any way, I think it was knee-jerk and unprofessional given his position. I also don't owe anything to Pimax. So if they appear to be victims then they are by their own design without help from outside sources. They have to live with that and climb out of it. Maybe they never will who knows. I couldn't give a hoot about the base issue behind Pimax getting upset at Upload as that is something else entirely. However, I do take issue (as you point out) with Upload's obvious distrust of Pimax the company and how they choose to represent them in their CES  article. I simply don't agree with how they are doing that regardless of my own thoughts of Pimax. They have the right to publish what they like and I have the right to agree and disagree with that.  They do make fair and decent critique about their CES experiences of the 8KX without the need to speak about the company in such a manner, as you saw with my edit of their article.

I'm glad primax exists. I hope the good outweighs the bad. If primax was a runaway success maybe much higher fov with clarity would develop faster as well with other companies.

I'm never glad when a company that is more closely aligned with scams and bad PR emerges as some sort of representative of an otherwise great new bleeding/leading edge technology. Pimax creates a "buyer beware" situation within the consumer VR marketplace that only serves to hamper progress.

Ya you make a good point. I just want vr to improve so bad at a faster pace, I guess its wishful thinking.

This discussion is minor as in other way more important news CDPR just announced Cyberpunk 2077 delayed until September 2020. Excuse me whilst I cry for a bit. Y'all carry on Pimax and Upload VR discussions without me.  :'(

Yeah that is terrible. CP 2077 is the most highly anticipated title for me in many years. I've played through all the Deus Ex games, and this is just right up there in the same world, but on such a grander scale. It should be worth the wait!

Maybe they can figure out how to do the vehicles in first person for Cyberpunk by September.

Not really TSE Kevin. It's not a case of them covering anything up, on the contrary. Rather, highlighting misinformation and not doing a very good job of handling it. Having read Upload's CES coverage of Pimax headsets, the entire article reads like a character assassination, presenting a totally negative bias which puts it at odds with most other reports.
.....

I think your wrong @Shadowmask72 - TSE (The Streisand effect) is defined as to censor a piece of information but gain greater publicity - it was the mistake (miss-spoke) from the COO that caused the issue, and ULVR's intransigence to change the copy the way the marketing director wanted, and his attack that caused this. But fundamentally TSE is based on the promoting of a demand to remove information that causes that information to get greater publicity. I understand that some people want to down play this, but lets use the correct terminology.

What?? Company mistakes do not reflect the quality of a product? The entire history of industry dictates otherwise. Bad hiring practices have lead to failed products and services many a times. Either directly or indirectly.

Well Facebook did hire Brendan, Nate, Luckey, and it did cost them several hundred millions in lawsuits to zenimax from all their lies.  Then cost them more in lawsuits from luckey's attorneys against zuckerberg.  Now we are left with a RIFT S that even luckey himself says is garbage because he can't use it, while many others think it is a huge downgrade from the previous hardware.  I was hopeful with the half dome pr3 being demoed, but when Iribe quit in disgust because lenovo was making the next iteration rift, I left oculus for the index/steamvr platform.

Put inside out tracking in it and I'll buy an index also. In the meanwhile I love my rift s. I placed built in rift like headphones and an index like grip solution and i will comfortably ride it out until  the high end package that's good for me comes out.
