Last day of March rant thread. Feel free to dislike :)

Almost 9am in the UK. Another day without hearing a blind thing from Oculus.
Apparently, some UK Kickstarters are starting to receive shipping
notices. Not sure if any UK pre-orders have heard anything and to be
honest, I'm utterly sick of wading through forums trying to find out
information that Oculus should be telling me rather than me having to
hunt it out and piece together bits of info that may or may not be true.

Maybe we'll hear more today. Maybe not. Going by yesterdays events, Oculus seem to think that total silence and merely shipping to a few people in certain areas of one region is enough to make us all happy. All we've heard from Lord Luckey is one tweet joking about a teardown post.

It's
the last day of March. Nearly three months since many people have heard
anything from Oculus. God knows how many March pre-orders who don't
frequent forums or twitter are now thinking to themselves 'My order
obviously isn't going to come. I've heard this Vive thing is pretty
good. It's out next week. I'm going to go with that'.

I still don't understand why people keep saying there has been zero communication, someone here even posted the tweet that was sent on Sunday explaining what was happening, and there was an email that went out to preorderers on Monday that repeated the same info. I mean, what do you want, Palmer Luckey to show up in your bedroom and whisper into your ear?

That is all I've ever wanted.

The tweet on sunday was pretty vague... but whether it was vague or not, what if you don't frequent forums or check twitter? A lot of people don't. They'll be even more in the dark than we are. As for emails, I've not had one since my pre-order went through on Jan 6th, giving me a March shipping date. If I didn't come on here, I'd be assuming right now that Oculus weren't interested in my custom and I'd be looking elsewhere.

Yeah, you're one of the few people who have said they didn't get Monday's email - did you check your spam folder? And how was the tweet vague, he said very specifically that preorders were going to start shipping out on Wednesday, and start arriving this week.

Lol I've been checking my spam folder many times a day. Not to mention my bank account, Oculus order page, here and reddit...

As for the tweet - it said pre-orders would 'maybe' start shipping on the wednesday. Granted they did, but so far only to a few areas. It's a start though 🙂

But my point is that Oculus should tell us these things rather than us having to hunt for them. This is a consumer launch. Consumers expect to be kept informed, especially when the time period between pre-orders and shipping is such a long one. If they're not informed, they lose interest and go elsewhere.

As said just chill out, get out of the dark and go outside and get some sun.

Rather than wasting life hitting F5 just get on with life and your rift will appear soon enough.

Ordered at 8:07, had a March shipping estimate, now it's March 31 and I haven't heard a damn thing from Oculus since January. I didn't even get that 1-3 week warning email. I just want some communication. If my shipment is really going to be delayed a month, TELL ME. Don't just pretend like this shipping disaster isn't happening. I can take the truth. What I can't take is complete silence.

Did you know that HTC has an automated service that will tell you not only what month your order is shipping in, but what batch? That is the type of stuff we're looking for.

I think we're also upset because a twitter post does not constitute REAL communication.... I also did not get the "marketing" e-mail of rifts shipping because I unclicked that box.  That was a generic marketing e-mail not communication.  Communication would be a damn sticky note or announcement ON THE OCULUS FORMS (not reddit) of status, and what customers can expect from this point forward.
