Orion makes me feel like I didn't waste my money. I never expected it to be perfect but all the initial demo videos made it look amazing. It was barely usable in the starting days. v2 helped but it was still really wonky. Leap always said it was a software issue not a hardware issue.

Now with orion it hardly ever has issues and I had to through my repertoire to make it loose tracking. I finally believe leap about it being a software issue! Crossing hands over each other will cause it to loose tracking. Either putting only your ring or middle finger on your palm will cause it to loose tracking on that finger and of course it still can't handle clapping.

EVen with all that it finally feels usable. I was so happy to see when I flipped my left palm up they had a ui attached to your palm for changing shapes in the block demo. I saw a guy tried that way back when but to see that it's becoming standard is awesome.

I see a whole new future of touch based ui's with leap motion being used for prototyping. THe touch can track hand position and when a finger is not on the button so you could replicate the palm based interface that way. Likewise vive's controllers track hand position and a button could be mapped to extend the pointer finger to compensate. Without most devs having either of those two I feel leap may be the go to to prototype.

TLDR: IT's finally usuable and I think it will be used a lot for protyping due to no major dev kit releases for vive or touch controllers

And the mounted controller doesn't cover any LEDs on the CV1. Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comment ... ns/cvekdf3

This seems to contradict what I found on the Leap FAQ :
The mount covers two LEDs on the CV1, leaving nine still visible to the tracking camera.

Looking at the CV1 with the Leap I think I can make out which ones get covered:

It seems like just the Leap in the cradle might fit between the middle rows of LEDs but when you include the track it's just too tall.

For what it's worth, I haven't noticed a tracking problem since slapping on the new LEAP mount.  I expect I'm between the LED's but if it does cover them, the tracking was not noticeably impaired by missing 2 reference LED's.

It looks like it does cover the LEDs:
