Lens brush?

What's a good, reasonably priced, super soft lens brush that I can get for using on my Rift lens? Because of my scratching issues that I've talked about before, I'm trying super hard not to get anything on my lenses. But they still get dusty. I try to brush at them with the Oculus cloth but that doesn't work super well.

I'm not familiar with this kind of thing at all so I wouldn't know how to tell between a really good and a really crappy one. Can someone recommend one please? Preferably one that is available on Amazon.

Thank you!

@cybereality Yeah, I saw those when you posted about them before. Thanks. My main thing right now is I'm trying to avoid causing anything that would need to be moist cleaned. I'm hoping that I can do that and just have to lightly dust them off every once and a while.

If you want a soft brush, sable has been the way to go for quite a while.  It feels like mink.
I just picked up a set http://www.amazon.com/Paul-Cezanne-Artist-Paint-Brushes/dp/B01B5PVZ9I
for not too bad.  Weasel hair.

@LZoltowski Yes, but I don't think the optics in my VR ONE are glass. They don't seem glass and as such will be my test bed. I dunno, but the one thing I do know is this current situation is not working well for me. I try my very best and I've heard lots of good advice and tried it, but yeah these microscratches are building up. If I look REALLY hard in VR i can see them as a solid transparent pattern over the scene. But I have to look super hard. However, I've had my CV1 what... 17 days? And it's already like this? Yeah no, that's BAD ><

It says several places on that product page "Safe for all surfaces and lenses." the only thing it specifically excludes is CCDs.

So, I've been sick and I only just now got around to testing the kit I got above. My VR ONE is in a hard to get at place that requires lifting something heavy, so that's not what I tested on. I was wondering what to test on when @Nobbs66 reminded me of a another piece of plastic that I have which is unfortunately very easily scratchable - the side panel window of my PC.

So I tested on that side panel window. The results of that were as follows:

Neither of the brushes in the kit would scratch it even if I used them very aggressively.

But the carbon cleaning pad did. Quite easily in fact.

As a result of that test, I decided I will NOT use the cleaning pad on my Rift lens, only the brush and the puffer. I went ahead and tested the softer of the two brushes(the stand alone one that's not part of the pen) on it - and I brushed in a very controlled way and a specific direction on my Rift lens so I would be able to recognize if any new scratches were made by the brushing(because they'd all be in the place I brushed and would be going the direction I brushed) - they did not scratch. Furthermore the brush was effective at removing the stuff that was on there.

So that's where I'm at. Which means I still don't have what I'd consider a safe way to actually clean the lenses of fingerprints or smudges or the like. I'm just going to have to be very careful not to get anything like that on there until I can get a protector of some sort.

The side panel seems even softer than the Rift lens, so it's possible that pad would be okay on it. But I'm not taking the risk.

Kolinsky Red Sable is the softest brush on the market. I'm surprised a lot of people are using those "lens cleaner" brushes meant for glass. 1 step away from scratching their VR :)!  Especially consider those lens brush pens just have carbon-adsorbents on them...aka chemicals that end up smudging a lens over time with cleaning even if it's light pressure trying to clean off grease. Also the bristles are not the softest on the market.

I also find it ironic lenspen brush makers have never...to this day...revealed what animal the "soft natural bristles" are from! Highly suspect. But real brush aficionados like myself know it's either hog or badger.  Which is never the softest brush to use.

You can go to Michaels and pick up a nice Red Sable PAINTER brush...don't need a huge one like that.

I have a Red Sable 00 brush from Michaels. Cost was $15 but worth it. Using that, dont need a puffer. Just dry blowing with my mouth. Of course ensuring no spit etc

I just thought of trying some lens cleaning solution and a sable brush, where you dip the brush and swab the lens to remove oily junk, then maybe rinse with a distilled water brush if necessary.  If I only had a Rift to check.
My brushes from Amazon arrive Monday.  The softness of sable is halfway between air and the memory of a kiss.

Probably need to avoid getting any liquid on the edge of the lens though, that might attack the laminated structure.
