I'm a little surprised there aren't too many threads on this so to get started:
What's the 1 thing you're hoping is changed or improved over your current (main) headset in the Quest 3?
Up until a month or so ago my main headset was the Quest 2 but I was using the Quest Pro for work and have now started using it to game. The clarity and FOV seem quite a lot better to me in the Pro.
I always used to complain about FOV - I believed that was one of the biggest things which needed improving and I still think this is true. The Pro is better but I'd love a bit more (greedy).

Might be a good idea to combine the 2x Quest 3 threads. This one and the other;

I think the press are conflating Meta's spend on their Reality Labs division with 'The Metaverse' and Horizon Worlds.
The $15 billion dollars or there abouts that often gets quoted is Meta's spend on Reality Labs, and that includes everything as far as I can tell... all of the hardware development, not just the commercial headsets but Portal, projects like Aria too, all of the software including headset OS, Oculus Studios, developer acquisitions etc. etc.
I think the press like to look at Horizons Worlds and say look at all the money Meta have put into 'this' and the number of users of Horizons... it makes for a good story. I've tried to find out how much Horizon alone has cost but all I get is that Reality Labs figure. I assume from the regular updates that Horizon gets a fair bit of investment but I don't think anyone knows whether it's disproportionate or not.

Long time no see Zen!
I think my Quest 2 will definitely be handed on to someone else and I'll be getting the 3 when it comes out - the short lifespan of the devices makes me want to get them earlier rather than later.
Agree, I prefer playing PCVR titles if I can - I want the best visuals possible and there's no reason you can't do that with a Quest (as long as the choice is available).
I'm really hoping they push the mixed reality part at Connect later in the year (by giving us a tonne of apps and games). It's definitely the way things are going with the Vive XR Elite, Lynx R-1, Quest Pro all doing colour pass-through.

I'm not a fan of creating E-waste so the longer these things can be maintained, the better.
The lenses are a massive improvement, other than that, I keep banging on about AR titles... we need some great AR to make the Q3 a must have for Q2 owners.
Completely agree. My family and I still have a ton of fun with our Quest 2's. My, son for example, will get obsessed with some random creature from a YouTube series (Siren Head, Shy Guy, etc) and it's really easy to find 3D animations of these creatures on a website that fully support VR. Not only that, but there are quite a few content creators in RecRooms that create maps with these creatures. My son and I have gone through a few Siren Head maps in RecRooms, among other horror experiences.
Granted, due to his age I limit his VR usage to about 1-hour per week. But it sure is great to go through that experience of encountering something enjoyable in a book or show, only to experience it with full immersion later in Virtual Reality.
Your comment about "e-waste" made me think of all this. We still get so much enjoyment from our Quest 2's that abandoning them isn't really necessary at this stage.
And I'm with you 100% on the new AR stuff. The teaser video from the Meta conference was super enticing! I love passthrough and the concept of turning our home environments in to an AR playground. But we need a lot more content first.
All stuff I am super excited to experience in the coming years.

I look forward to reading your Quest 3 review then! 🙂
PCVR has definitely been highly enjoyable for all of my single-player experiences, and some multiplayer. For my time with family in VR, the stand-alone Quest has been the big winner. Since it lets everyone in my family who doesn't own a gaming PC enjoy some hilarious moments together.
That's what I love so much about the Quest product... it functions so well both as Stand-Alone and PCVR.
Cheers, buddy!

Looks like I am one of the few that's not looking forward to the Quest 3. Big nothing burger if you ask me.
For a 3 year refresh looks like I will have to wait longer or go to something else.
Pixel density a little better.
Said to be about the same weight as Quest 2 with no attempt to at least balance it like the Poco 4. But I was really hoping to use it without the battery.
More powerful but that has no effect if you have it connected to a PC for better gaming anyways.
I won't use the color cams much too.
It just seems to be bottom rung with no innovations that matter to me. Hopefully it won't be another 3 year wait for Quest 4 to come out. I rather get a Pico 4 for a cheap headset at it's price point, lighter, balanced better, and same image optics. Eyeballing the bigsreen beyond for what sounds like a great viewing experience. Extremely light. Yeah it's $1000.00 but I am willing to pay for a better experience. Heck I may even spend the 3k for the apple product if it's good enough. Keep the Quest 2 to play proprietary games like Horizon Worlds and to hang out with the friends I made in it. Get something else for the rest because I just don't think the Quest 3 will bring me a significantly better experience than the Quest 2 and I rather pay $1000 instead of $500 to get something that will.

The 7th Guest really was a bit of a shock - I don't think anyone saw that one coming! I think that was probably one of the very first CD-ROM games I ever bought, along with Rebel Assault.
Yeah I was scrambling to figure it out before they revealed it! I think 7th Guess is a great title to port over. Horror and Puzzle games do quite well in VR. Can't wait!

When it comes to user experience, I've found nothing simpler to use or better than Oculus/Meta products and their ecosystem.
I think the Pico 4 is a fantastic headset but then of course you have to use Steam and the controllers aren't as good as the Touch controllers.
Bigscreen Beyond? Is that £1100 without tracking and controllers?

Yep, that Beyond price is without controllers, base stations or even audio.
