March estimate pre-orderers - How long will you wait until you cancel?

Since I have heard of a lot of Rift pre-orders jumping ship and canceling their orders, I am curious to see what everyone's limit is, even if you have a 1-3 week email, or no email at all. This mostly applies to people who got a March estimate, but feel free to put in your wait limit in regards to your estimated (If you can remember) month.

Lol. Got all excited because I saw a large charge from my account. Thought it would be the Rift, but it is the Vive! Now I have to decide if I am going to keep the Rift or not. The pressure!

I'm upset about the lack of communication more than anything. When I ordered, it said shipping in March (I ordered at 8:07am). Now it is March 31st and I haven't even received the 1-3 week warning message. Does that mean I could be pushed to late April or even further? I am moving on May 1, and now I need to know if I actually have to change my shipping address because my supposedly shipping in March order won't ship by then.

As far as I can tell, they have only spent a couple of hours fulfilling preorders so far this week. Pretty much all of the shipping yesterday was for people who found the magic link before preorders even officially opened. They haven't even gotten to the meat of the orders yet.

I just want an update from Oculus. I want to know why I haven't even gotten a 3 week warning for an order that was supposed to ship this month. This frustration may not cause me to cancel this order, but it could seriously influence any future VR purchases. Of course if this complete and utter silence from Oculus continues, I may as well just get a May shipment from HTC since it will arrive sooner.

For the love of VR, just communicate with us! This is absurd!

I spent $600 on the Rift, $600 on GPU & PSU, $150 on motherboard, $80 on rig case, and because I'm gonna switch the motherboard, I'll need to purchase a new Windows license, which is another $120. Now the total cost is marching toward $2,000 after tax. I've gone kind of too deep to pull out.

Considering Oculus' consistent non-shipping, I'm tempted to just return & refund all these crap, thrown in another $1,000 and get a HoloLens.

This is the EXACT point some of the liberals on forum boards don't take into account. When you spend this kind of money on a product(s) you're interested in owning, you have A RIGHT to know the status of your order. It's not about; "go get some sun", "chill out and go outside" "dude, relax" etc.... This company has made it clear with their advertising that the product "IS READY", and going out to consumer. Now there's nothing but glitches in their system, and no one is willing to AT LEAST give a small explanation to get a majority off the ledge.....

If the Vive is commercially available before the Rift, I'll jump ship. That doesn't seem likely, but every indication from Vive HQ is that customer service is on point & shipping is on time, so depending on how badly Oculus screwed up production, it might be a possibility. I'd rather have a Rift than a Vive all things being equal, but customer service does mean something to me & I'm getting none from Oculus right now.

I have no plans to cancel my preorder.  I'm not sure what my personal irritation limit is.  Shipping delays is far less of a concern than a lack of communication.

I have lots of patience and a healthy respect for the volumes we are talking about so no rush to cancel here.

I'll say this though:  If I DO reach my limit and cancel my preorder you can bet that it would come with a complaint to the FTC.

We'll cross that bridge when we get there but right now that bridge isn't even in view.

This "launch" has been riddled with complaints, not about the device, but about the abysmal communication. Way to fuck up some good press by being silent on the issues, as if that has helped any company in the history of forever Oculus. When will you learn silence is not the answer in the world of consumerism?

I was really looking forward to diving into the Rift this weekend, but a bit more time isn't going to hurt me too much considering I still have my DK2 and I will be in the first batch of Vive's.  I am also taking a week off work when I have both HMD's up and running to really put them through their paces.  April will be a good month, no doubt.
