My stages of interest for VR from the very first time I learned about it until now.
1. Really? I hope this isn't the next motion control and 3D 2. Wow, people really seem to dig this. Maybe it's cool. 3. Elite: Dangerous in VR. OMG, I want this. 4. The Vive sounds really cool. 5. Wow, HTC is bleeding money and I have very little interest or room for what it reportedly does best. 6. Hmm... the Rift might be what I need. 7. Ughhh... Facebook 8. Well, I probably can't run it on my 5 year old PC anyways. 9. I read something from Palmer Luckey commenting about a score of 9000 or above should be good for the Rift. Wow, I actually hit that. 10. Impulse preorder! Heck yeah! Whoa, $600... 11. Well, new tech is expensive. I'm in 12. Start reading forum posts about my cpu and how it sucks. See other tests you should run from PassMark. FAIL. 13. Start reading threads about Elite: Dangerous & Oculus Rift issues. 14. Inevitable second thoughts and doubts about preorder.
TLDR Conclusion: I should probably just wait until I buy a new PC in a year or two.
