NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 20 GB & GeForce RTX 3070 16 GB Graphics Cards Cancelled, Alleges Rumor

Looks like it's a possibility that the higher memory Nvidia variants aren't going to happen this year at all at least. Take with a grain of salt for now, but since we all can't even get any type of 30 series card presently, it's probably true for this year at least...until production ramps up...which looks like next year anyway.

They're just trying to get us to pay $800 for 16% more performance  :#  😄 (Hint if needed: 3090 costs $800 more than 3080)

Oculus Rift CV1, Valve Index & PSVR2, Asus Strix OC RTX™ 3090, i9-10900K (5.3Ghz), 32GB 3200MHz, 16TB SSD

An interesting note to add...

If the latest AMD leak is true...Nvidia has got some big hurtles ahead...but...we all know they can loose the crown, so they must have something planned... I'll call it now...3090Ti  😘

If true, this does look interesting:

Just an 8% lead, but not necessarily unimportant. Based on average results in current games, 3090 seems only about 16% faster than 3080. In TimeSpy 3090 has been found to be about 20% faster than 3080:

Yes, with only 16-20% better than 3080...that doesn't leave much room. I guess a bit of tweaking here and there in the drivers could net maybe another 2-5% for now, until software catches up. Until then, it's anyones guess.

My thoughts are, Nvidia did a paper release while waiting in the wings to see what Red is going to do (not that they didn't have any idea) so they can tweak their product line to compensate. It's to convenient to have nothing available just before a Red release. Why release an entire product line and then be beaten to the punch with no way out for another year or so.

My suspicions are...since gamers won't really need 24gigs of ram anytime soon, if Nvidia does go the 3090Ti route (so not to defeat the purpose of the 3090) they would probably do a 20gig unit to keep prices in line and do something similar like they did with the 20 series super lines to boost performance, that is if there's anything left on the table. But, knowing Nvidia, they haven't revealed there winning hand just yet, since they always use the Ti as the killer for anything Red might do and to hold on to the crown. It really won't make any sense to release a 3080Ti due to the slim performance gain of the 3090, plus the fact that Red has already beat the 3080 according to rumor and is clamping at the heals of the 3090...again according to rumor.

Next weekend is going to be interesting, once Red reveals it's line up.

I'll only believe it when I see it. This IS AMD we're talking about here after all.
