Nearsightedness and Glasses

I would like to begin by saying that I'm nearsighted (I can see things up close but not far away). So why would I need my glasses using a device that is right on top of my eyes? I didn't wear my glasses for the first four days that I owned my Rift. I kept thinking things are sure blurry. If i positioned the headset just right I would get some clarity. Games were tolerable but the Bigscreen app and 360 photos looked terrible. I blamed it on the screen definition.
Well tonight I decided to try my glasses out. Wow. What a difference. Of course the screen definition needs improvement but everything is much clearer with my glasses. Bigscreen looks so much better and so do the photos. I guess I learned something new.
I'm surprised at how comfortable the Rift fits over my glasses. I was very worried about this. My glasses don't create any light gaps. As a matter of fact they fill in some of the light gap around my nose. Man I love this thing 🙂

Because there's a lens inside the rift.  It focuses image at a distance of 4-5 feet.  Most people cannot focus at a distance of 3 inches.

Unless you can see clearly 5 feet away then you'll need to wear glasses.
