Why revamp the brand which many think is a corpse and not just start anew? Microsoft did great harm to Atari in the 1990's with various legal drama. Atari BOX perhaps is a play on X BOX. With this previous jaguar VR HMD IP to be used to stop certain legal claims that will certainly be tried to be raised by various patent holders and possibly legal warfare by Microsoft, sony or others. MVIS is rumored to be partners on the HMD.

Trivia: The first arguable GPU was the Atari 2600 TIA of 1977, later upgraded to the GTIA used in the Atari 800 in 1979.

It does show Nolan Bushnell, founder of Atari is working on Wireless HMD systems.  Systems that may be used at home, or at chuck e cheese.  Etc.  The rumors are that he wanted back in at Atari and he is bringing his wireless HMD research to the platform.
