New Oculus Quest2

My Wife and I recently purchased a new set up the oculus quest 2 from finger hut and it is very poorly designed! We still have the oculus quest and love it! The older quest has more durability and fits better on your head. The new oculus 2 has a jockey strap as a headband and keeps slipping off and does not fit! Do they make a better headband strap? Otherwise we want to return these items for a refund. According to fingerhut we are past 30 days. It was delivered to us January 5th and have not had the chance to use until recently. Please advise as our next step will be to contact the Bureau of consumer affairs!

There's the official Elite Strap and Elite Strap with battery. https://www.meta.com/au/quest/accessories/?filter_tags_match[0]=meta-quest-2

If you go on Amazon and search for quest 2 head strap there's heaps of third party ones too like the Bobovr. https://www.amazon.com/BOBOVR-M1-Compatible-Lightweight-Honeycomb/dp/B0B1WQHGKW/ref=sr_1_5

I haven't tried any of them though, I find the default strap on the Quest 2 fine.

Thanks for the info, do you know which of the straps would be the same as the original oculus quest?

The Oculus Quest 2 sacrifices a bit of the prior comfort of the quest 1, for jamming more technology and improvements in it.

The elite strap is widely seen as great, but is a more premium price. There are a range of third party styles which are available for the straps, which are superior to the base head straps of all quest editions.

I would potentially recommend a strap with battery attached , as these provide a nice counter balance for the weight on your face, as well as allowing you to "charge" the device during use without any long wires which get in the way.

I personally used the WaverVR brand, before I updated to the quest 3. I didn't have any issues and bought it due to its lower price and the headstrap upgrade. However there are youtube channels and forums which discuss deepdives in to the pros and cons of each brand. My only advice is going for a more reputable brand due to the potential for battery damage with some of the less reputable brands which haven't been tested (we've all know the companies with random letters and words slammed together)

The old quest 1 was poorly designed. The fabric stores sweat and smells after a while and the controllers rings can break without you even hitting anything. Also the quest 2 fixed the loose spring of the quest 1 controller which would cause tracking problems.

The only thing better about the quest 1 was the bulkier size which helps for glasses and the default strap being easier to put on. The quest 2 with replacable straps is much better. The fine IPD adjustment of the quest 1 is also good but the screen door effect is just distractingly bad.

Quest 1 did have better haptics, but the q2 has stronger ones with long controller battery life. I think the tradeoff is good. Quest 3 has weak haptics but they are very good and controller battery life is still very long.

Some people prefer the Quest 1, some don't. I find the Quest 1 the most uncomfortable of the 8 Oculus/Meta headsets I've got (to the point where I rarely used it) and the controllers are equally fragile to the Rift-S (which shared the same controllers) rather than being wall destroying tough things like the Rift CV1 controllers.

One of my students couldn't stand wearing any headset except the Quest 1. We all have different faces.
