Works great, all the other VR movie apps I tried just didn't work for me. The only thing is if the movie has a different language by default (say spanish and english) theres no way to switch the audio to the other language unless Im not aware of it?

when you say you watched a 3D movie, do you mean an actual 3D movie on the rift in Cineveo where it actually jumps out from the screen? Or you just watched a movie in Cineveo on the rift? im a bit confused

Well I watched Avatar 3D, so it is possible.

sidni, there are numerous apps that allow you watch both 2D and 3D movies in the Rift. VR Player, RiftMax, Cineveo, VR Cinema, etc. We're still waiting for DK2 support to be added to some of these, and Oculus itself appears to be working on VR Cinema now (since they hired the developer).

In all of these apps, the movie is played on a screen that appears to float in front of you. Or the screen is part of a modeled virtual theater which itself appears 3D. For 3D movies, yes, the 3D effects actually go in or out of the movie screen just like in a movie theater or on a 3DTV or monitor. So, you can sit in a virtual theater (that is 3D - chairs, walls, screen, etc.) and watch a 3D movie. Amazing, huh?

Most users seem to agree that 3D in the Rift is actually much better than most other formats. Your eyes are each getting their own image with no optical polarity filtering or timing required so the effect is very clear and convincing. I think this will only get better as resolution and screen door effect improvements are made in future Rift hardware releases.

i was watching lego movie the 3D version and all that happened was the video was split into two. so in Cineveo, on the screen, there was a split image where the movie was playing on both sides. very weird.

You need to change the mode to SBS (side by side) by pressing one of the F buttons, try F1, F2, F3, F4 etc till it works. (Or read the manual)

I also bought it- I wanted to support media apps on dk2. He has now added all themes to the package rather than charge separately as before. Pleased he did this - shows he is listening to the users.

One problem I have is that it will not show in full screen on the rift when I use directtorift mode (extended) - the screen is curved to the left and right and it causes the movie to be squashed a bit. I have the same look in windows so its not the rift that's causing it - how to get full screen in directtorift mode? I tried the other executable ie not direct to rift and that ran full screen but it would not move to the rift if I pressed shift-windows-arrow.

thanks

Pretty sure Direct mode is NOT extended mode, they are different, change the Oculus dsiplay config back to direct, then run the direct .exe.

have you tried alt-enter

Seriously guys... Why is it that only a few people actually see that the scale is completely wrong ?
I find it obvious, I can't even use cineveo like that !
