I really want to prepare rift overtake by buying a new machine. But I also plan on waiting for prices to drop before I splash out.
Is there going to be new gpus comng later this year, that will see prices drop in thier current tech?

There seems to be a new nvidia gpu, but the price is stated to be over 1000$
Too much for something that is more overpowered than the already overpowered 980ti
get a 980 and you can play any game on any VR set at maximum spec without even have to blink 🙂

nVidia is releasing their next gen (Pascal) cards Q2 2016 I think. Pascal will be a huge jump in performance compared to previous generations. Google it.

Personally, I recommend getting a "good enough" graphics card for your Oculus while you wait for Pascal to drop the big bucks.

I would not be so optimistic... Kalec84
I have G1 980Ti and assuming that VR is comapreble to 3x 1080p i would say that even this card wont pull all games on MAX...
P.Cars and Elite Dangerous run just ok on 4K monitor, and concidering, that you must maintain 90Hz/FPS in VR i can only hope, that whis will be enoug.

Pascal GPUs are rumoured to lounch Q4 2016, so this is quite a wait, and i doubt that the prices will drop on CV1, concidering what Palmer states, that they do't earn any money on it dop will NEVER be more then 50-100$

Why would it be equivalent to running 3x 1080p displays. It is equivalent to running slightly more than 1x 1080p display. It is 2160x1080 with each eye seeing half of the display.

The reason for the high minimum specification will be it needs to run at a steady 90 fps to drive the 90hz displays.

Prices always drop but top level video cards are going to hold their prices for longer if Oculus goes mainstream. I have a 980Ti and I'm hoping that will be good to go for a few years.

You will have nearly half a year to check the marked. They start shipping in April they say, but hey, they said many things in the past.

Take a look at the Intel I7 6700k for example. Just dropped about 100€ in the last days. Its possible video cards will drop also... or not. Who knows.

I won't preorder the rift yet. I will wait till the end of that year and hope some retailers will get there hands on that thing in Europe. Till then, prices will fall. It makes no sense buying a new machine just now.
