New user thread problem

Would it be possible to stop people posting in the "New user, can't create thread - PLEASE READ THIS" thread? i find it frustrating to see the icon show new posts in the "Announcements" section to find it is just a new user posting in there despite the forum homepage showing the last post as being by cybereality. We have the greetings thread under general discussion for new users to announce themselves in without it appearing like there has been an official announcement.

Well the new user thread has become the place for people to post to get their first 3 posts (and become full members). Otherwise people may be spamming other threads, which would be worse.

I see that, it's just frustrating that it forces the announcements section to show up as having new posts by yourself, when there wasn't actually an announcement.....

Is it possible to create special top level section for new users?
"New users! Post here!".

You could move there other topics like "first impression" or greetings.

It is not very obvious that new users should post something in ..... oculus announcements thread.

New users can post in any section they like. However, only in existing threads.

The point of the announcement is so new users will not miss the thread and it will be visible everywhere.
