It seems like we'll get:

The new Ampere-based GeForce RTX 3000 series cards will reportedly offer more VRAM on all cards, so we could see:

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 - 12GB
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 - 12GB
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti - 16GB.

Maybe reduced power consumption due to 7nm. And maybe the best - if it's true:

NVIDIA is reportedly set to offer its next-gen GeForce RTX 3000 serieds at cheaper prices than the current-gen GeForce RTX 2000 series, which would be interesting. NVIDIA faced considerable backlash with the pricing on its GeForce RTX 2000 series, even though they still sold like hotcakes a price reduction is always welcome.

Another flat one gets the DLSS treatment:

Is the 3070 Ti a phantom card? - Thus it's completely normal if you can't find any - at all 😉

Lol - I think that The Persistence Enhanced right now has the highest recommended hardware requirements for any game offered to normal consumers - on the planet

RECOMMENDED:

    • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    • OS: Windows 10
    • Processor: Intel i7 10700K
    • Memory: 16 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA Geforce RTX 3080Ti
    • DirectX: Version 12
    • Storage: 5 GB available space

But it's really no joke - I would not want to play this game using less than my RTX 3090. 2c.

^^Yeah that RT in VR is going to be a system killer, might be time to bring back SLI for RTX cards. lol

This type of thing has taken place throughout GPU history. Every time a new GPU is released, you get games that list it in its "Recommended" settings. It doesn't mean much.

Besides, this game has a terrible rating on Steam. I would not want to play this game on any machine, regardless of GPU.

  • Hot. Steaming. Garbage. The game looks horrible on the Index and clearly was not optimized.
  • Be warned, several things in this port are just plain broken.
  • Its a lazy psvr port.
  • VR Buyer Beware. This game doesn't have actual VR controls, it's strictly a Mouse and Keyboard.
  • until they do a severe balancing pass, this game isn't worth playing at all.

This game is a great example of why graphics don't matter for the same reason putting pretty flowers on poop won't mask the smell lol

Just saw this card - does look quite cool:

It's from Galax:

The card comes with same OC as my Asus Strix OC RTX 3090 - and comes with some help like the MSI Suprim 3090, lol:

Not sure it's necessary with the support if you buy the right mainboard, though - my Asus Z590 mainboard comes with Asus Safeslot:

Securing the 2kg RTX 3090 with 2 screws seems to hold it perfectly - not sure I'd care much about further support, unless you travel a lot with your rig...

Interesting choice of commercials on Nvidia Subreddit 😂 Then again, I really don't know how many females visit this Subreddit - maybe men are the minority in there 🤔 😁

- Or do men, who spend too much time on their Series 30 video cards, have partners with such problems? 😉 Well, I'm not sure that discussion is relevant here...

Btw, just to get back to RTX and Unreal Engine 5. It does seem that UE5 may work best with AMD cards and Nvidia RTX may be in some trouble:

Using a RX (RDNA 2.0, 7nm) gpu the PS5 and PSVR2 could be surprisingly strong - even compared to Series 30 powered PCVR.

Still we're far from working PSVR2-based/ported games, and Nvidia may be able to fine-tune their drivers, we'll see.

It's way to early to say much about UE5...since it is in the first 'early access' version. One thing though, the PS5 is built on AMD gpu and is the console of choice by Epic...so initially things will seem much more geared towards AMD for that reason.

The early access is given so that Epic can get much more feed back while Devs try out the new features and find bugs...which by the way are plenty presently. It's by far not production ready yet and won't be for the next year or so. That's a long time in tech terms...and much will take place before production time.

There's no need to worry though, Nvidia isn't going to be left behind AMD...

Seems like the Series 30 VR apps are starting to appear, awesome 🙂 Next one is DeepStates VR supporting DLSS:

Save 11% now and until June 25:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1619350/DeepStates_VR/

At first I thought that the app looked really nice, but in one location I did notice getting 45 fps with both CV1 ss 2.0 or Index res 200% - with my oc'ed RTX 3090 😮

- but then I saw this:

RECOMMENDED:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 64bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i9-9900
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Gen1 HMD (Rift1 etc.): RTX 2080/3070 || Gen2 HMD (Index, Rift S etc.): RTX 2080Ti/3080
  • Storage: 10 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: Additional notes on performance: https://discord.gg/HMD3Cvn in channel #issues-and-solutions

Thus this app is only for high-end VR enthusiast, and the RTX 3080 is no joke at all. Does look purdy, though - right? 😉

Using a lcd hmd, temporal antialiasing (TAA) may create a blurry image - and I get that with the Index using DLSS or just the default antialiasing - so I'm guessing this is TAA? Looks perfectly sharp with the Rift CV1 🙂

I found that with the Index res 200%, the game looks best deactivating all DLSS and antialiasing. And the Index really needs res 200%, maybe even more, for optimal image quality.
