  • Facebook Horizon: metaverse-like shared world(?) launching next year
  • AR glasses under development at Facebook Reality Labs
  • Passthrough+ (stereocorrect view) releasing on Quest next week, and Passthrough on Demand later this year
  • Go apps updating to Quest, free for Quest users
  • New enterprise-level services for business use of VR

.... I have no interest in low-poly non-textured GearVR-like Quest-games (ok, Fujii is cool though, sort of), but being able to use Quest for watching Netflix could be something though.

I see an awful lot of dismissive comments like this about Quest, but I think you'd surprised if you actually tried it. Yes, textures do tend to be lower-res than their PC counterparts, but the difference is not as extreme as you seem to expect. I just saw this on YouTube, and I felt it was relevant here:

And...the resolution's only going to get better, now that they have Vulcan support, and Unreal Engine coming their way. Just look at Red Matter...that's the industry standard going forward.

From what I've read, they stated 'between now and the end of the year', with the blog dated Sept. 25th. I read elsewhere, that it kicks in come October. So, wait a week or so...they will come, even if a little late. They have a list of apps already available on their blog...

It says "will begin the week of September 30th" in the blog for the free upgrade games, but not that it will be today (some people have said they were told today by support, but that could have been a misunderstanding on either side).
