Will there be a DK2 Jam ?

Will there be a single CV1, or maybe something like an early access CV1, and even some incremental versions of the CV1 ?

Have you some progress to announce about adapting the CV1 to short sightedness ?

Will the CV1 feature some limited wireless ability to use it's internal CPU/GPU for low end tasks, on top of it's wired ability to use an external CPU/GPU for high end tasks ?

Have you thought about using a method such as creating a contest to win some free CV1s, to start figuring out how many consumers would want to buy and even pre-order (or at least win) a CV1 from the start, ahead of the CV1 launch ?

Would the single external webcam on the CV1 smartphone be enough to perform accurate 3D gesture tracking ?

What about using the single internal webcam on the CV1 smartphone to keep track of a single eye ?

Have you put some thought into adding Augmented Reality, or if you're not comfortable with that yet, with at least making it easy (by HMD design and by SDK) for a third party to come add it's Augmented Reality as soon as the CV1 ? Any thoughts on the future of Augmented Reality VS the future of Virtual Reality ?

PS : By Augmented Reality I include the requirement of two external smartphone webcams adjustable to the same IPD as the lenses.

My questions:

1: How far away are we from a super compact "sunglasses" version and is it in the works?

2: Are you considering other display technologies than an AMOLED for future versions?

3: What is your goal resolution-wise?

Q: Do you think the rise of VR will revive arcades?

Q: Capturing 3D 360°with cameras is possible and done today to create a movie-like experience for VR. However the 6 degrees of freedom of the DK2 (and probably the CV1) make it very hard to capture the real world and and represent it in VR. Do you see a possibility of VRM's being created for the 6 degrees of freedom of the CV1 or will it only stay at 3 degrees?

And a more philosophical question.
Q: Do you think humans are likely to rather stay in Virtual Reality while the real world around them is falling apart?
People tend to believe what they want to be true.

My questions:
1) Will the "Screen Door" effect will be completely eliminated in CV1? And how Oculus VR will solve "Screen Door" problem in CV1?
2) Are Oculus VR considering the possibility of adding two stereo cameras in front of Oculus Rift CV1. Cameras can be used for Positional Tracking, Leap Motion and Passthrough video system.
3) In DK2 we can see edges of the screen, it is really immersion breaking. Will it be solved in CV1?
4) What do you think about "Virtual Retinal Display" technology?

1) What directions are you wanting to go with the SDK? More support, more features, open vs closed etc

2) Where do you all stand on smaller high resolution flexible screen tech to increase FOV, lower the SDE, and removing the lens altogether?

3) Head tracking is getting better, but everyone still having problems with it. Working in the field, giving more people more setup items always ends badly, so are we going to see a change to bring that into the Rift it self?

4) What ways will we see Oculus (the company) evolve over the next year(s)?

Too many hardware & technical questions here so here's few gaming related..

1.) Oculus Rift is undoubtedly the key component of a total VR experience that can be achieved when the Rift is combined with products like the Virtuix Omni treadmill and Leap Motion handtracking and so forth, just to name a few examples. How much, if any, collaboration is Oculus VR doing with those other companies and will we ever see a combined "Total VR" set on the market that combines the Rift with Omni and Leap Motion in one product for a good price?

2.) What's the most surprising and/or innovative thing you've yet to see the Rift being used for? (This question came to my mind after seeing a video of an Oculus Rift game being developed which aims to treat crossed/lazy eye & double vision).
August 1st: DK2 Ordered (Finland) October 7th: Ready straight to Processing 14th of October: Received 🙂

1. If Andrew Reisse was with us today, what would he have done differently wrt his area of expertise.
2. Can we have an ARC(Andrew Reisse Citadel) Challenge in his memory.
Judging for:
a. Best Experience
b.Applied, best practices
c. Best VReducational use of a demo .

For Reisse,

General Oculus Questions
1. Will the Consumer Version 1 allow developers to develop with CV1 or Will we have to buy a "special developer" rift?
2. Some developers do not have very good Personal computers. Will Future versions of the Rift be hardware accelerated? Can you go into detail on why or why not this would be a good/bad idea?

Questions for John Carmack -

1. Will someone tell John Carmack to program another genre defining game? Seriously - Doom and Wolfensiten Defined my childhood and an entire genre.
2. Are you still amazed by what people are doing with your engine (ID Tech 1) since you made it open source? Do you keep up with the Doom Modding community?
3. If John ever makes an new game will he release mod tools and open source game code / Engine? Providing that the engine is not third party.
4. What made the original doom team name the most bad ass weapon in the game Doom 1 & 2 the BFG-9000?

My questions:

1.) Are we going to be dependent upon going out to "VR Arcades" with large budgets and floor area for full locomotion for the foreseeable future, or is convincing presence (including locomotion) going to be cheaply attainable in the home short term (5-10 years)?

(note: I am aware of the Omni and other locomotion products, but am not super impressed so far.)

2.) What is the most interesting non-entertainment application you have seen VR used for so far (medical, training, etc)? Or what potential non-entertainment applications are you most excited about?

3.) Sci-fi/blue sky question: Do you think true VR (which is indistinguishable from reality) will be attainable in our lifetime? What are the biggest barriers you've seen in your research so far?

4.) What, if any, kind of AR applications can we expect from future Oculus products? Mr. Abrash was very interested in this when he was at Valve, is this an area that Oculus is taking seriously?

Also, if someone could pass along a great big "thanks" to the gentlemen on this panel for being the people who finally went out and made this happen, that would be awesome. We couldn't have asked for a better crew to be on the ground floor of virtual reality.

Hi.

I wanted to ask:

1.)The oculus will be for gamers when it releases. Would you recommend an assembled PC type for the non technical folks that will work best with oculus?

2.) Will you be creating "apps" for relaxation? My mother is mentally unstable and I am hoping that virtual reality would give her some solace. Like that scene in Aliens in the start where Ripley is sitting in front of a simulation of a garden, I have always envisioned something like it to become a reality. Another idea was a virtual tour app of historical locations. Like walking the ruins of Pompeii. What are your thoughts on this?
