I had ordered a set before but cancelled my order as I was undecided. Had another change of heart and decided to re order, went on amazon and seen the price is down to £36.88, they are out of stock at the moment but ive placed an order as Im happy to wait for that price. I just hope they dont do what they did with my 1080 order and leave it out of stock for months until I get fed up and cancel. Just thought id post up the price drop incase anyone is on the fence about getting a pair.

no worries mate, think they are worth shot at this price even just to keep as backup if anything goes wrong with the headphones.

So what do these Oculus earphones offer that high quality in-ear phones lack? I have Monster Turbine Pro Coppers, admittedly costing £200 when I bought them 4-5 years ago (now Monster is flogging them on Amazon for £280 used!), but purchasing any QUALITY noise-cancelling in-ears will do the job.

I think the main pro for them is ease of use in that they are attached to the rift and work in the same way as the headphones. The ones you have will probably sound better but they are wired so you would need to run an extension to your pc and I think it would become annoying having the extra cable. You could use any other bluetooth headset/earbuds etc but you would need to manually set the default sound device.

Connecting directly to the Rift is the best solution. But I connect the phones a Bluetooth receiver and stuff it down my trousers.

Yeah theres no harm in doing that, you would need to change the default sound device from monitor to headphones etc. One thing I would say is that when I had my Vive, I tried using the earbuds that came with it and although they plugged into the headset and had a short cable I still found it got tangled from time to time especially when doing a lot of moving about in some fast 360 games. I also tried the PSVR earbuds which plug into the small box on the headset cable and sits about chest level, these were quite good, but I was pretty much standing front facing the whole time.

I like the headphones on the CV1 but im interested to see how these do, I think at £36.88 they are worth a punt.
