They said no pc... so this is not the "rift 2" is a more powerfull version of the go...?
I'm saying this because we all know some vr game simply can't be run without a pc...
I need explanations o_o

Don't forget that the chip can run faster due to thermals and power delivery in the HMD than their mobile phone counterparts.

I wonder how they're going to have enough left over resources? The Lenovo Mirage Solo and Vive Focus both use the 835 as well. But the Quest has twice as many camera feeds to process, higher resolution to render and two 6dof controllers to track (compared to one 3dof on the Solo and one formerly 3dof but now 6dof on the Focus). I wonder how Oculus are going to deal with that in hardware or software.

I see everyone complaining about Snapdrgon 835 instead of 845, but is there that much of a leap between the two? (I have literally no idea, that's why I'm asking ^^).
Maybe, but an 845 doesn't change the pin layouts so that isn't 100% true. Thermerals designs don't really change unless the chip just runs super hot - but we know for a fact it doesn't so you either see gains in your thermals or they just stay the same. Power might change - but not that much. Again - it's a optimise design, not a full rework cpu/gpu here. Really it would be a drop in replacement for the most part. If they did over overclock - you still see a bigger gain from going to a 845 and over clock that as well. I mean if they did push it - that be a 50% performance boost over GO. You can get an idea within a few days if the cooling is going to be good enough. I mean we have people overclocking the 2080 less than 6 hours - so we're not talking like it takes years or months to know.
LZoltowski said:That is not how hardware design works @kojack, they have been working on the thing for 2 years or more (845 came out in Dec 2017), that's is not even a year ago. They already started building the components, thermal design, power delivery etc on what was then available. For them to change it up mid product cycle would mean delays and a complete reimagining of the device) A change in power delivery etc (it's like a domino effect.)
Phones have faster iterations as they are easier devices to manufacture. This is a completely new device for Oculus.
