Lol... So to counter the rumors that the Rift itself would be $1500, he knowingly put out a false statement that it would be closer to the $350 ballpark figure...

Well considering that the Rift costs roughly $1000 USD for every other country besides the US, the actually price point is closer to the $1500 USD figure. Thats not even factoring additional harware requirements in. For a PC with recommended specs plus the Rift your actually looking at about $2500 USD.

I want people to act with integrity and honesty. Right now Palmer/Oculus is guilty of some pretty shameful and shady business practices. He knew that it would be around $600 last fall but told people it would ballpark around $350 anyway??

If he just came out and said it would be $600 last fall I bet nobody would be pissed off or even surprised, but all he did was create a false expectation and a lot of pissed off people...

Finally people are realizing that Oculus and Palmer are not God!

Never thought they were gods. But one would think that logic would dictate that someone smart enough to make billions of dollars would also be smart enough to avoid creating bad PR for their business with such foolishness... And then admit they lied about it...

Like another poster said, why not state in the fall that because of the technological innovations over the dk2 people should expect cv1 to be double the price. Now people wold be prepared for a $700 bill but upon the date of the pre-orders announce that the headset including add-ons would only be $600... He would Have been a hero instead of a villain.... The eff is wrong with people!?

shameful and shady? are you a bitch?

he said that before he knew and apologized and actively is one of the most honest bossiness people, especially in video games, out there today. you guys see someone great at what they do, honest, knows when to apologize for their mistake and you're like "not good enough". He didn't lie, he even STATED that it wasn't going to be in the 350 ballpark anymore.

Palmer luckey isn't perfect, but he's damn good at bossiness. Especially with only like 2 years or so of practice and no degree in it.

EDIT: i swear, i've tried changing the typo's and it doesn't work.

From what I've read what he promised for $350 is not what we ended up getting for $600.

Seen a few bit on the net that lead me to believe the CV1 is a big step up over the DK2.
As one person put it, it like they skipped the CV1 and have given us the CV2 instead.

Again it's all just hear say and what people that have used it are saying on you tube etc.

Couple of you tube links.

It's like taking your car to a mechanic. The mechanic says: "It'll be ready tomorrow and it'll cost you 200 bucks." You come back one week later and have to pay 800.

That does not compare at all. In this case you do NOT have to pay for the Rift or argue the price to get service for your needed car.

You are just let down and think you have the right to say you somehow got screwed over. People feel so entitled these days.

I on the other hand am happy they raised the bar and made it more expensive with better parts.

Erm...not entirely what I meant. I don't care if they charge 300, 500 or 800 euros, dollars, pounds or whatever the fair price is. If the quality fits the bill then I am fine with it.

I was merely saying that they could have informed the people a little bit sooner.

So let me say something here real quick to all you "Supporters" more like cash cows... 2013 was of significance why? Well during that time period there were talks between Facebook and oculus to make a deal... And I'm not going to speculate but let's just assume that one of the business partners did not agree to Facebook's orwellian terms.. And in the world of business you can't agree on something 50% it has to be 100%. So do the math people man dies magically by someone running away from the cops? Really... I don't think this adds up and what stakes does facebook have in this as a multi billion dollar spy empire that ended up saving the consumer $0.00 compared to never being part of this. Welcome to the world people make your choice with your money... Ill go Valve all the way, because facebook smells like George Orwells decaying cadaver...
