A neuroscientist, Dr. Miguel Nicolelis is preparing an exosqueleton so a young paraplegic person will use it and walk to the center of the stadium and kick the first ball in the soccer world cup here in my country. I was watching the video about this and saw a rift with some legs simulation going on.
I talked with persons that are involved with project and they told me the rift was important to speed up the project since with a VR they can jump phases of the tests.
