Hopefully this will help offset the slew of Vive Award links on the forum lately!

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text. Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing? A: Top-posting. Q: What is the most annoying thing on forums?

I'm guessing danknugz didn't even read the article if he thinks bribery was involved. 🙂

Well I was not let down by the article.  Some guys just won't give up on this stuff.

Oculus Rift is clearly the better headset. That being said I'm ok with the Vive winning those awards, because they truly did give you a complete package with on time shipping and delivery, for the most part. Oculus on the other hand strung us along, lied to us and basically treated us like shit. I'm eagerly awaiting my Touch controllers like everyone else though and hopefully 2017 will be a better year for Oculus!

Never thought both Oculus and Vive were going to be neck and neck heading into 2016.
Gonna have to wait until Touch is released to finally see some apples to apples comparisons.
Give HTC and Valve credit, they've created a great product and they're not going quietly.
You may not like it Zenbane, but they're at least competitive.
Up to Zuckerberg, Palmer, and all the folks at Oculus to take the next step I suppose.

I've always said competition is good. I'm glad that HTC is the main competitor for Oculus, because it means one very important thing: Oculus can't afford to get lazy, even against an easy opponent.

Without HTC, Oculus could afford to get lazy, and that's bad for everyone.

Oculus is the real underdog in this story, because all they released is an HMD with a custom Platform; whereas HTC released: an HMD, a platform, motion-controllers, and room-scale. If anyone bothers to take a non-biased view of the situation they will see that HTC Vive should have destroyed Oculus on the market. But they didn't. That speaks volumes of the Rift's quality, and the Oculus VR experience.

The Vive probably would have destroyed the Rift if HTC and Valve had done a few things differently, the most important of which is releasing a devkit earlier and made more of an effort to get these devkits to developers. There were plenty of developers SCREAMING for Vive devkits but they couldn't be had for love nor money. It's the main reason why the launch software for the Vive was so piss poor.

HTC should have got their own devkits out when the Rift DK1 was available but they came pretty late to the party, and due to this their CV1 is pretty much a devkit and why they're behind on ATW and ASW, were behind on supersampling and didn't have a proper audio solution to speak of. They're pretty much a year behind Oculus in terms of SDK, software (as in quality of games and experiences) and hardware imo.

If both companies had come to the VR party at around the same time things would be VERY different I think.

Dunno I mean maybe vive has better/more technical support.
You have to deal with a plethora of technical issues with no-one but other users responding with oculus.
Yeh oculus is better but the technical support sucks.
Right now.. for me.. it sucks.
I have issues and no way to really deal with them
