Oculus Touch Pledge

No one knows the price (guesswork in play).
No one knows when it will be released (no announcements before October).
No one knows what games/content is included with it (probably still in development).
No one knows what it means to be in a pre-order priority queue (I am off this queue since I bought my Rift at Best Buy).

All this uncertainty has me thinking, what if I give Oculus a taste of their own delay medicine?

I pledge that I will not get the Oculus Touch before Feb 2017, even if provided the opportunity to do so earlier.
Beyond that timeline, it will be uncertain when and where I will buy it.

I hope Oculus gives you a coupon to claim a free Touch... which expires 31/01/17 so must be redeemed before then. (including delivery time) -  I want to test this pledge you made.

Looking at the packaging, these things don't look cheap or easy to manufacture so I assume there will be shortages when they finally launch due to high demand. The queue thing obviously means you're ahead of those who didn't pledge when ordering the Rift. Alternatively it could just be one big marketing ploy to stiffle output to generate demand/publicity. Oculus are possibly sitting on warehouses full of the things right now with the final version well in their hands (so to speak) considering how much time they have had to make them before release. Surely they wouldn't make the same launch mistakes as with the Rift right?

If you originally pre-ordered through Oculus, you didn't have to lose you place in line.  There was a link on your order status page, where you could say that you picked up a unit at retail.  That would have cancelled the order and left your place in line for Touch.

Regarding the rest of your post, you act as if Oculus owes you information about Touch.  They don't.  Oculus Connect is coming up, where they will definitely talk more about it.  Just be patient.

I think Oculus VR was punished enough with the huge amount of CV1 sales they lost to the HTC Vive because of their last minute decision to pull back Touch an extra 6 months to 2016Q4, which will directly translate into lost Touch software sales.

And although we are getting a much overdue Touch release, I believe we are also clearly getting the superior hardware (assuming Touch wasn't designed for dwarfs like the default faceplate was, after spending ~6 months complaining about that).

Also their release date should be announced during Oculus Connect 3 : That's October 5th-7th.

PS : Also the Touch based game which announced their 2016Q4 release date have since then had their release date edited out, but suggested Touch being released early 2016Q4 instead of on the last day of December.

I've decided that I'm going to buy 2 sets and learn to use a set with my feet as well as the hands. I think oculus have been brilliant with no delays. Ordered CV1 Jan 2016 and delivered Jun 2016. That's pretty swift and I was so happy waiting with no frustrations whatsoever so I'm more than happy to wait til 2018 for touch.
