Oculus cable length sufficient with touch and moving around?

I'm just curious since I'm picking up my touch tomorrow, is the length of the hdmi cable from the oculus headset to your pc sufficient? I'm just watching a touch review and I see a fair amount of walking around in your "play area" which you configure yourself. Has anyone who received touch yet come to the realisation that the standard cable you get with the headset isn't long enough to move around properly or does the touch come with an extension cable or something? Or do you find the cable you already had with your Rift was sufficient?

Sufficient for a 8x8 or 9x9 area yes. Much more and the cable grows taught. I am definitely interested in a extension cable but I'm not going to be a guinea pig for cable extensions that may or may not work. and be out $$ for cables I have no use for. I knew the 15 foot USB3 cable I got for a sensor would work, but the HMD is another animal. I hope they come out with a official extension cable.

I don't think they will be looking at a HDMI extension cable but instead I think they working on a wireless kit for the HMD which is by far the better option....

Anything that gets rid of cables is a must buy in my book as I've got two rigs (one for Racing, one for Flight Sims) and the amount of time I get tied up in cables even outside of VR is unbelievable - and thats even cable tying as much as possible.

Is it me or do cables have a mind of their own and end up looping around things?  😄

I use a 2m HDMI extension and 3m USB (Passive) extension to add some extra space, but not really sure its needed.

I just got a standard 2m HDMI cable from Maplin (UK retailer) and it works fine.

After testing yesterday (with my touch)I can honestly say I was very annoyed with the standard cable length I'm definently going to be investing in an extension.

Just my opinion, but the cable is too short. Adding a 2 meter HDMI and USB3 extension cable with some velcro cable ties has improved the "trip hazard" by loads. Obviously depends where your PC is located, but me for its a must.

Ya, it's the additional slack that would be welcome. Don't really need more length for actual use.

I'm just leery....I really don't want to waste $30 on cables I have no use for that don't work.

I added some extension cables to my rift setup and it works.  I did a little research online and here's exactly what I bought.  It works for me.

When I originally tested the setup I was using 2x10 ft cables.  I needed the HTC Vive's Link box for it to work.  It's just a little powered HDMI/USB extension box.  Then I realized I could get away with just the 10 ft extensions.  I can't remember if I tested with just the 10 ft and no link box.   Judging by the little research I've done, some people need the link box, some do not.  It depends on your motherboard.  The link box looked like it was sold out on Amazon, but I ordered it directly from www.vive.com and it showed up fairly quickly.

USB 10ft (I also use this as an extension for Sensor #2)

I do recommend wrapping the USB and HDMI cable together.  It's bad enough haven't one long cable at your feet. I used these velcro straps to hold the the HDMI and USB cables together.  Some electrical tape may be less bulky and slide on the floor better.

Also, if you plan on mounting the sensors on a ceiling or wall, these worked great.  You just unscrew the sensor from the standing base and screw them into the brackets.

I used some 3M strips like these so I didn't have to drill into my wall.

I don't have the largest play area in the world, maybe 7ftx8ft but I found it ok, just. I think if my room extended another foot in both dimensions I'd have difficulties.
