This is for anyone having problems using the Rift CV1 while wearing glasses. Before trying this mod I could not put on the Rift while wearing my glasses. The foam would squeeze the sides of my glasses way to much. Even when I finally got it on after first inserting my glasses, I experienced what others have said, that the Rift would then put too much pressure around the nose. Now I can slide the Rift on and off while wearing glasses! The pressure on my nose is gone. I also can see just as well as with my contacts in. I am really happy right now. It is actually comfortable. I didn't want to have to wear contacts every time. Felt weird doing this to such a new and expensive item but was worth it. I originally saw this on a Reddit post. https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/4jo8r3/oculus_rift_cv1_standard_faceplate_modified_for/
I've tested the thin adapter with thin foam replacement set (pu leather). Its working great with lens adapters (lens prescription). I use stretchable vr covers, too. The early lensadapters and covers neither fit well nore they are made of good quality. That's right. But this has changed. Today I ordered the oculus rift foam replacement velour. And I'm hoping for another improvement for my Rift: Rift become lighter and more pleasant now, because of oculus inears too I am using. But this is not a panacea: Its a gorgeous thing for spectacle wearers...
Is the material and pattern design of their standard cotton VR cover the same? yes
Do you own the revised model with the straps? no, but stretchable. They are fine
How about the lens adapters, you have the new versions as well? yes, they are fine. There are obviously different build-types of rift. This can lead to problems...But the problems are solvable at home.
I use the Facial Interface (Regular) with PU leather foam replacement (Thin size) and prescripted lenses with the new adapter and I am very satisfied. Today I`ve ordered the Velour foam replacement (Thin size) and I hope for a further improvement. Together with the inears of oculus, this represents a really great thing for wearer of a glasses.
The first and older products of VR Lens/cover neither fit, nor were they of good quality. Thats right, but that has changed.
@hollywood Is the material and pattern design of their standard cotton VR cover the same? Yes
Do you own the revised model with the straps? No, but stretchable ones, they are fine. Not to compare with the old laps.
How about the lens adapters, you have the new versions as well? Yes, they are fine. And they send the new adapters to the coustomers for free. The problem was that there were obviously different build versions of the Rift or still exist.
