Oculus touch is ready we just couldn't afford it...

I am pretty sure now with all the reaction with the 600 price tag, that the reason the touch is delayed is not a technical one, but a case of not pushing the price to high... Let's say 800 with the touch included. I know that paying later is the same money as paying now... But hey why do they sell stuff at 9.99 instead of 10$...psychology.

They delayed it for a while because people would have started crying why isn't it include with the rift and so on... Now they say it's not technically ready.

Oculus knew what the reaction of the 600 price would be and they tried to minimize it... Not including the touch being that strategy... From all the demo at CES touch seems to be perfectly ready...

I am sure that once the VIVE starts shipping so will the touch...

Of course everything is speculation right now but what I gather is they are working out battery problems.

I doubt the controllers are ready yet. If they were, I'm quite sure there would be an option to buy them rather than just register interest.

Oculus want the VR experience to be as immersive as possible. The controllers are a big contributor to that.

If this is true, it's going to be a deal breaker for many, unless they can (at the very least) double this. How many gamers play a game for only 30 minutes (and then wait presumably another 30 minutes for the thing to recharge)?

GIven that few people will be able to afford two sets of controllers (use one whilst the other recharges), maybe some form of removable battery, such as the Xbox 360 controller might be an idea?

Well, the problem is easy to solve since if you are in "sit" position near the pc you can plug in 2 USB in the controller... wich take the usb port needt up to 5-6... lol!

And either will probably require another camera / Lighthouse station to work well.

Think they still have some way to go. Maybe powered through USB attached to the headset?

And yeah, I'd expect $250-$300, with the extra camera.

While touch is okay in the end it will be what the players decide they like best that determines final input. Back in the days of doom it was nintendo controllers or arrow keys that ruled .... now its mouse and keyboard or dual anolog stcks via xbox.. this is a new medium don't make the mistake of thinking old school controls will stay like the are. If players find something better then that's what they will use regardless of any official schemes
