Oculus touch is ready we just couldn't afford it...

I am pretty sure now with all the reaction with the 600 price tag, that the reason the touch is delayed is not a technical one, but a case of not pushing the price to high... Let's say 800 with the touch included. I know that paying later is the same money as paying now... But hey why do they sell stuff at 9.99 instead of 10$...psychology.

They delayed it for a while because people would have started crying why isn't it include with the rift and so on... Now they say it's not technically ready.

Oculus knew what the reaction of the 600 price would be and they tried to minimize it... Not including the touch being that strategy... From all the demo at CES touch seems to be perfectly ready...

I am sure that once the VIVE starts shipping so will the touch...

There are not enough games for touch right now. Developers have to create first before you can consume something.
Excuse my bad english. I speak to you through the google translator. 😛

I would be surprised it the Touch bundle (two contollers and camera) only costs $199. I'm guessing $300 at least.

You mean "in the ballpark of $300", do you? 😉

I have to agree with OP. I had the exact same thought last night.

Why would they cost so much? theyre just controllers, nintendo managed to create a new controller without going mental on pricing. if theyre too expensive a lot of people wont get them, which means games will stick to the gamepad for the biggest sales....MS kinect all over again.

Well look at the price of the Razer Hydra...I don't think it's far fetch to think the Touch will be 200...

I stand by my original position...they were fully aware of the ballpark comment, and trying to minimize the impact = touch delayed....

But it will makes absolutely no business sense to let Vive steal the thunder...

Mark my word we will have the touch controller in our hands before we get to have the consumer version of the Vive...

I don't know if you guys just watched the CES interview with the HTC guy from Norm (tested.com) it seems that there's an awful lot of stuff they still need to work on...

And he even refers to the VIVE as more of an investment then a purchase or something along those line...that comment alone should tell you something about the price we will be facing...

Personally I don't really care much for the input solutions since like I stated in many post...I am a cockpit guy.,,my X52 and my G25 racing wheel are all I need out of this...

Can't wait for March 28th 🙂

Its true, people would have been even more miffed if the bundle was $800. I expect those touch controllers to cost $200 - $300. For those of you that think that's too much for a controller keep in mind many of us PC gamers regularly shill out $100-$300 for a mechanical keyboard and another ~$100 for a high end gaming mouse.

Though holding back due to lack of usable content is also a very valid point. A third idea would be that trying to manufacture them at the same time could cut into the number of Rifts they're able to pump out.

Of course this conversation flips in 6 months when people in Australia have to pay another $100 to ship a controller that might have been ready when the original units were sent. 🙂

The main reason I can see the Touch controllers not being included is because "Microsoft" want the Xbox one controller to be used in most game creations for early adopters. So when the Oculus Rift hits the Xbox one, It will have games that work out of the box. Hence the almost free controllers from Microsoft to Oculus.

I only see this as pushing what real virtual reality should be away into the future.

Yea Touch will be expensive...

But what I don't get is, the Rift is still a seated tethered device. The Touch will make you want to flail your hands all over the place while you have no idea where your hands are in real space. To me, I feel it's going to be a disaster, people will be crashing into so much stuff around them.

Hopefully by the time Touch is released, there is some sort of solution to track your objects in the room, so they become integrated in the VR world. Maybe their cameras will project some sorta of boundary in VR space, and that Is why you will get two cameras once you own the Touch; for full 360 deg tracking.
