I apparently have a neanderthal face. The config tool from DK1 reports a 69mm IPD and the config tool for DK2 reports 72.4mm, with 12mm eye relief - fully extended. Perhaps I am dehydrated and have sunken eye sockets or something.
I can live with the indentations into my skull bone from the narrowly spaced lenses; physically adjustable lenses are complex on so many levels.
However, the wider DK2 lenses exacerbate off-axis chromatic aberration to the point where it is uncomfortable to look at any high contrast image; it is difficult to even converge stereo view in high contrast scenes. I know it isn't a hardware or rendering bug, because manually shifting the HMD so a lens is directly in front of one eye results in a clear image across the majority of that visual field!
I attempting to customize the SDK so that it supports off-axis chromatic aberration, but if anyone else has experienced and/or solved this issue, please let me know!
