Okay.. so now im getting a little annoyed :P (Vive/Oculus)

Alright, I love Oculus, been keeping up with them since the beginning and I have a preorder for May. I had been loosely following the Vive for a while but i kind of wrote it off because I didnt think they could compete with the Rift. HTC and Valve have just been killing it with coverage and open business practices. Every VR video I see has a Vive in it and I get really excited watching all the Node videos but I question if the Rift will be able to do all these things that the Vive is doing? Where are all the CV1 videos with devs talking about it and showing off Touch demos? Seems like everything is behind closed doors and that really sucks when HTC is show boating their HMD and motion controllers with style. And its really starting to look appealing... I now have both HMD's preordered, but am holding out on canceling one.

So which is better? I know the specs are practically the same, but which tracking system is better? Will I have a good seated experience with the Vive or will I have to move the light houses to better accommodate a seated experience?
I have plenty of room for room scale, roughly 280 sq ft. I want to play cloudlands mini golf when im having friends over for a party, then switch to my HOTAS setup and play some ED. Its just frustrating because I want to light a fire under Oculus' ass so they'll start showing some demos. This is crucial, im sure they are losing customers because they have been so quite. If Palmer would just make a 2 minute video of the CV1 being able to work in roomscale im sure that would see so many more units.

I just saw the teleporting to a new room on the vive too, I really don't like that idea, they should come up with a new way instead of teleporting.

It is the same limitation that you have with the Rift, with the difference that with the Vive you have the possibility to walk in the room with your foots. With the Rift you have to teleport yourself every single step

There is no way of knowing which headset is best (for you!).
Sure, there are differences (which we all know, so I won't name them here) but you will know for sure once you a/b test them for a longer period of time. Will all software work straight from Oculus Home/SteamVR? Do we have to edit ini files to make stuff work? will the tracking be good? etc. etc.

No way of knowing.

The teleporting demo of the vive is the "stealth" version of the Oculus rift shoter, nothing more.
That said, i'm a little Angry... damn it, they are making so much press on that i'm even starting to think about taking both the devices -.-
Not that is a problem, i was sparing money to buy a second 980ti... i just have to chose... 2 vr set or 2 980ti...
The question is: Were the hell are all the oculus rift coverage videos? didn't they send some in advance for press purposes?
And if not, WHY!?!?!?!? I mean, ok, you have a lot of order, but they can be cancelled every second if ppl start thinking "well, vive is better, period".
I know the video of 2cents is in a room were the "spared space" he make is bigger than my actual "pc room" and not many people have all that space, and more that that, the cable... oh... the cable... i can see ppl trapping in it. But still, just him flipping the controller is mind-blowing! OCULUS!!! for f@#k Sake! do something similar! make us feeling good for giving you our thrust! We are only asking for a glimps of what we are getting!!

OP, you should probably wait till we see some comparative videos of Rift. Right now, enthusiast reviews are a bit one sided.
Not a Rift fanboi. Not a Vive fanboi. I'm a VR fanboi. Get it straight.

No. You. Don't.
This myth really is bizarrely persistent isn't it?
You can get up, stand and walk with the Rift. Not as far as the Vive (and we don't know how far - maybe just be a few feet in each direction), but you certainly can move around - I have tried a CV1 and was able to do this. So the idea you have to teleport every step is simply wrong.

At present, the rift has only one camera, The field of view of that camera is limited and there is also the problem of occlusion of the IR light with some kind of movement and hand orientation. You may move a little but the limitation are so big that in fact the games are all seated experiences.

When I played Bullet Train it definitely wasn't seated.

I thought they said they supported more cameras (Which you have to buy of course) no pricing yet.

I was interested in the Vive until I saw it was a lot heavier than even the DK2. Although they have not released the weight of the CV1 I understand it is a lot lighter than the DK2.

I think I may wait for generation 2 of the vive. This one seems a little rushed out and more akin to the DK2 in ergonomics.

The thing is. They are both capable of Room Scale. They have done announced that the oculus can do it. When you receive your Touch controllers you get a second camera. They said you can actually use the touch controllers to scale the size of the room and go from there. It will be able to basically do the same thing the vive does.

That's cool but I'm just skeptical about how well those cameras fair vs the vive trackers. I've seen video proof that you can jump around put your head to the ground, and rotate your whole body quickly with buttery smooth tracking and no occlusion with the vive AND have a great seated experience. If the rift can do the same then why haven't we seen it? It sure would make a lot of sense for oculus to just put out a few videos showing flawless room scale to retain customers. Instead were just supposed to take their word for it? Doesn't make any sense.
