Only one eye within the Rift gets an image - HELP!

This is really strange, and I am hoping this is something simple I am doing wrong...

When I fired up my Oculus Rift for the first time and launched an app, there was an image only in the left eye. When I look through the right eye, there is nothing there. If I turn the Rift off and on again, I can see a blue screen in the right eye (previously blank) with some output to tell me the resolution, and nothing in the left eye. Then it all goes blank.

I can see from the onscreen display that when I move the Rift around, the headtracking is working fine. Why on earth would this be happening?

Not the start I was hoping for with my VR journey. I can live with the screen door...just give me a door!

What does your cloned computer-monitor display? Also just the left or the right half, or both images?

The computer monitor displays both images properly, and moving the Rift around triggers the expected head tracking. If this was consistently happening with just the left eye, I'd be less confused...

I'll try that this evening after work - thanks for the suggestion.

At first, I just accepted the default 1080p resolution that the apps wanted to run in, but I also tried the native 1280x800 720p resolution.

OK, problem resolved (fingers crossed).
I am not sure which of the following was the magic bullet that got me in business, but I did the following:

    - installed the SDK
    - installed the UDK
    - mirrored my monitor with the rift (the big thing, I am guessing)

There really should be a Quickstart Guide for something this simple, especially when this launches to market. Even little things like telling people which video card output to use (or, that it's OK to use any of them....or when it's not, etc.). That stuff goes a long way, and the people who "get" this technology don't often stop to think about those who don't.

All that said, I am wondering if there is something I can do to improve the screen resolution. I am using the C cups since I cannot get the Rift over my glasses, so part of it is surely caused by the fact that my vision would be fuzzy anyway. It's more the screen door.....I knew it was going to be there, but I didn't think it was going to be quite that prominent...

I had something similar happen to me. I was getting a light blue right eye image. I did have two other thunderbolt displays hooked up at the time. I was plugging and unplugging the HDMI cable between test runs without trouble for awhile and then it started. I unplugged the other two monitors and that seemed to fix it.
