So since changing to a GTX1080, whenever I start the PC (which is brand new) I have occasionally had problems where the PC doesn't send any signal to the monitor.

This has become more and more pronounced and I have had to unplug my DVI to HDMI connection and link the PC to the monitor Evian HDMI to HDMI cable to get a link, log in then swap the cable back to the DVI to HDMI.  Once playing it is fine but if I reboot the PC, same problem.

Tonight I have had the same issue again but I can't get the PC to send a signal to the monitor whether I am using either cable.  Just happens to be the night that I have a few friends round to see VR and I have a black screen and friends that are highly sceptical of the tech.

Bit lost as to what to do as I can't get in to see the OS and do anything about it...

Any help welcome

Changed the hdmi cable ? Latest driver ? Or even roll back a driver ?

Have 2 DVI to HDMI cables, neither makes a difference.  When I restart  I have to unplug the DVI to HDMI and plug  in the HDMI to HDMI and reboot.  This has worked until tonight when the system just won't output to the monitor. Incredibly frustrating...

Are you completely killing power to the board before retrying? Unplug it or switch the power supply in the back to off.  Wait at least 20 seconds and then bring it back up.

inexplicably all came back on again.  Nothing but problems since fitting the 1080...

Have you tried physically re-setting the graphics card? I've had issues with connections more than once with various add-in cards.

Also sometimes a mobo heats up and warps. Caused me no end of problems a few years back.

It's a liquid cooled machine so shouldn't be that.  Fans rarely get up to any sort of speed.
