Option for not using DK1 as part of extended desktop.

Currently attempting to just get things setup and working right for a friend. I see in the tooltray utility the option to have the RiftVR to not be part of the desktop, but when that is set it still shows on the main desktop. If I close the displays the desktop shows find on both the main display and the RiftVR, but once content is loaded the RiftVR says no signal. In extended desktop it is just a total freaking hassle since the RiftVR only gets video when set a main display. I've not found a thread or FAQ with a guide of setting to verify and such that the RiftVR is not part of the desktop but works.

System:
Asus 990FX based board
AMD FX-8120
32GB ram
2x HD7970
Samsung 23" 3D monitor connected via DP
RiftVR DK1 connected via HDMI
Windows 7 x64

in the end I would like to be able to which the 3D on the main display to side-by-side mode and have other people wearing 3D glasses view that the RiftVR wearer is seeing, just they don't control the POV. So Cloned displays is preferred.

Any other info about driver versions/firmware can be answered after I get access to the system again.

I'm slightly confused on what you are asking, so I have a question to try to clarify what I think you are asking.

Is the following what you are after?

• The Rift (DK1) is not part of Window's extended desktop.
• What is being outputted to the Rift is mirrored on your 3D monitor that you need 3D glasses for.
• You have two ATI HD 7970 GPUs, Win 7 64b, and the before-mentioned DK1 and 3D monitor.

Is that correct?

Yes. that is basically the goal. I would be happy with the two displays always being mirrored, but it only is mirroring correctly on the desktop, once I start any of the Rift apps I've tested the monitor shows the picture, but the Rift DK1 goes to no signal.
