PSA - The flag button

VizionVR

Just a reminder that "flag" isn't a dislike button. Clicking "flag" gets Cybereality personally involved and he has enough to deal with without having to wade through false alarms.

"So Flag is for really bad stuff. For example is Baba comes back and
spams the forum, you should Flag it so I can remove it quickly. Or if
someone is being racist or otherwise completely out of line. There is an
options for "Spam" and "Abuse". This is basically the "Report" button
you asked for. "
Not a Rift fanboi. Not a Vive fanboi. I'm a VR fanboi. Get it straight.

I think these things are stupid and just allow people to troll each other. If there's going to be these buttons then should just be Awesome/Funny/Well Said/Report Dislike is way too open for abuse and I've seen people hound other's posts just because. It also means they can hide behind it without giving any reason why.

Ya dislike is trolling, most people know that and avoid
using it especially since your name will show up under it. I don’t even think
it works for Youtube, they need to implement a system more like Pandora;
when you dislike something it adds it to an algorithm that will than stop recommending
videos like it to you anymore instead of just advertising how many people clicked
dislike.

If someone abuses it, they'll probably get banned. Cyber knows who reported someone.

So, the point system that hides posts is cumulative. So if 5 people dislike a post, but 7 people like it, that post would have 2 points and remain visible. It's only when it gets -3 points total that it is hidden. If you see what looks like bogus dislikes, just click like on the post and you will cancel it out. Thanks.

Three seems a bit harsh to me. Should be more imo. And what if you're neutral towards a post but also respect the person's entitled to an opinion?

I would like to see a bit more variety. For example threads that get to a positive +7 count of likes / awesomes become stickies for 24h. Threads that get -7 could stop bumping up or something 😛

Also buring posts doesn't mean much - I'm sure 90% users unbury them just to see what caused the outrage 😉

Absolutely true!

I do think the dislike feature is ok though, i use it from time to time, but not just because i disagree with someone. I think it's quite easy for a reasonable post to be buried also, because it only takes a few dislikes, and i have seen post get down voted where there is no obvious reason for it. Haters gonna hate i guess.

My only problem with the dislike system is some people use it to dislike the news reported which is not link to the OP....

If let's say I would post a news report saying the Rift wasn't black anymore but candy pink instead, there are people here who will dislike the post, which might hide it while being valid news...
